I would like to start archiving photos of CSX2000 Series Cobras. I'm finding photos on the internet & Facebook but they may not include the CSX numbers. However on Facebook SAAC member & Cobra Registrar Ned Scudder identifies some of these cars which I really appreciate. I no from page 73 from the World Registry of Cobras, 4th edition that CSX2011 was originally a red car then white with red & blue motifs that went racing.
I've been a SAAC member since 2014, I own a 2011 Shelby GT500 but I really have a heart for the CSX2000 & 3000 series Cobras, cheers.
I co-manage a group on Flickr, dedicated to original Cobras only, that you might find interesting:

Hi SunDude, Thank you for the link & I see you have a lot of Cobra photos that I can troll through so cheers. I don't have a Flickr account but I'll get around to that this week, thank you.
SunDude
Great site! The blue Cobra with Griswold grafts is csx2192, currently owned by John Goodman Seattle. If you expand the picture you can read the black Ca. Plate XAW683. That still has the same plate I sold the car in 1968!

Hi Benny, Welcome to the forum!
Just like you, I've been collecting photos of all the Cobras. There'a at least 20-30 vintage photos of csx2011 out there in the wild / internet.
I was talking to another forum member about the paint scheme shown in your later restoration photo and thought it might not be entirely correct to the vintage appearance.
More recently (2015 RM auction) it showed up in a white / blue restoration version which may be more historically accurate.
Hopefully one of our resident experts will chime in and clear this up for us.

I have this in my files, I believe ? ? that is CSX 2011 #97 on the left, with CSX 2017 #11 ?? at Green Valley Texas in '67.
Stand to be corrected on the CSX #s & date, some info on CSX 2017, in my 2008 registry is missing, the newer registry probably
has more info ?
Kranky ? ?

Hi Richstang,
Thank you for the reply on CSX2011, I also like the way you supplied your photos with & file name ;D. Concerning the sequence of colours, red, white, white with blue motifs, white with red & blue motifs & currently white with blue motifs? Would you think that may have been the sequence for the colour schemes?
Thank you A-Snake.

Thank you honker, Mike.
Did you see this thread:

If I recall correctly, CSX2011 was at SAAC 12 in Charlotte in 1987. It had recently been unearthed and the owner displayed it in the car show along with a sign taking a poll on restoring it vs leaving it alone. By the end of the day, the vote was overwhelmingly in favor of leaving it as it was. Bear in mind this was long before "barn find" mania took root.
At that time the conventions were still being visited by some fellows who owned an unusual vintage camera that rotated on a high tripod and took a panoramic shot of an area maybe 200 feet across. They usually photographed the car show, but that year at Charlotte there were quite a few genuine Cobras in attendance, so the focus (no pun intended) was on them.
The panoramic photo was of all the Cobras arrayed on the Charlotte Motor Speedway front straight. Front and center was CSX2011, with Carroll himself, who was in attendance, standing beside it.
That would be THE photo to post of the car, if that can be done.
Yes I did thank you Mark, cheers.
Hi Bill & thank you for your input, I'll try & investigate SAAC 12 some how, cheers.
If no one here has that panoramic shot, the photographer is most likely Doug Chadwick, lives in West Virginia, and he might still have copies.

He continues to shot the iconic panoramic picture at the annual Lotus Owner's Gatherings and I'd love to see him again at SAAC conventions.
Hi Greg,
Thank you for the lead & I've emailed Doug, cheers.
Here's a slice of one of the panoramic shots, with CSX 2011 and some thrill-seeker on the track. I pulled it out of the online registry, which has 18 photos of 2011.

Hey, A-Snake, who is this guy? He managed to worm (and sector) his way into your photo, too.

The #11 Cobra driver is noted as Ed Tucker (Lotus driver...is he the owner, I don't know the answer to that one.). Ed Dnf'd the race as he was involved in an accident with a Mustang. The #97 driver is Ron West in 2011, result unknown at the moment. The race is the June 1967 Sunburn Nationals.

Based on the photos I've gathered and some help from 'Kranky' to identify a few date/race events;
1962 December in Nassau - Red
1963 December in Nassau – White with Blue? (paint over fenders and on hood in B&W photos)
1964 February at Daytona – White & Blue (same paint at '64 Meadowdale and '64 Mid-Ohio)
1967 June at Green Valley - White
2006 July at SAAC 31 VIR - White, Red, Blue
2015 May RM Auction - White & Blue
some B&W photo added in as well
Hi Ned, A-Snake, Kranky & Richstang, many thanks for all the photos, particularly the racing ones & Charlotte Motor Speedway, you guys certainly deliver the goods. I've liaised with Doug Chadwick, he plans to email me the panoramic photo from Charlotte Motor Speedway SAAC12 when he returns from travelling. I'll post his photo when I'm in receipt of it, cheers & thank you.
