Them white big suspension shelby  3-way adjustable shocks are the koolest prettiest shocks ever made in my books anyway as they really stand out when u look under the car. If anybody wants the exact snake decals get the ones from ECS as they were made from an original  decal i removed from an NOS white shock since the old repo wasnt the correct size.  Are those 4-speed or auto as they are a different lenght?

Ok they are shorter than the 4 speed as thats why i asked so if they were 4-speeds they would have a black color code at bottom but no color code on autos.

The 4 speed GT500 C9ZX adjustable shocks are probably some of the rarest shocks Ford produced as they were Shelby unique and only used from about the end of March /beginning of April 1969 until Ford Dearborn assemblyline production ended about four months later and only on 4 speed GT500 during that short time .

The C9ZX-C shocks in your photo are very rare also given the same short period of time used as the GT500 4 speed shocks . I am sure because of attrition there are not many around now. The C9ZX-C shocks were used on GT500 automatics besides the GT350 automatic and GT350 4 speed cars so a lot more cars used on relatively speaking. FYI because of the staggered mounted shocks used on a GT500 4 speed application the Shelby unique GT500 four speed shocks were made to have a longer travel .

Just to add what Ed and Bob said. My fathers car which was built in Jan. had Z7ZDA front shock and was painted blue not white. So you early 69 owners check when these changes were made on color of shock. Ed and Bob would no date ,I do not .

The time frame is known but I don't think there was a firm cutoff date known...

these were put on my 68, which is a 4 speed, by a Ford dealer im guessing in 1971ish thereafter the car virtually sat. Makes sense they pulled what they had from the parts counter and used them not caring about the 4 speed difference i guess.

As Shelby's go In 68 only the 4 speed KR had staggered shocks so all of the others used the regular length shocks. KR and earlier 69 GT 500 4 speeds used a non adjustable regular Mustang shock that was longer travel special for those applications.

perhaps, but knowing the original owner i doubt he asked for those shocks to be put on his car... someone thought it was the best thing to do. Glad they did

The C9ZX-C would have been a service replacement shock for a 68 Shelby once the 68 shocks went obsolete. They are virtually identical to the stock 68 Shelby adjustable shocks.

oh good to know... I was thinking not appropriate for my 68 but perhaps they are?
