Since you all have been so helpful with answering quite a few of my questions - thought I'd post some progress pictures of 296 today - still a bit to do / detail etc.. comments welcome - good bad or ugly !

Looks like good work in progress. A couple things that stand out to me from thye pictures provided are the welding for the package tray spare tire bracket should show signs of heat damage to the paint underneath from the welding on the passenger compartment side. In some cases they sprayed black paint over the burn marks to deter rust. It should be one or the other. Other places where black paint was typically used to cover welding was on the axle rebound brackets and override brackets. Another thing are the tie rod adjuster clamps typically appear a little darker finish because of the spring steel that they are made of compared to the lighter finish on the metal of the regular steel adjuster sleeve. A little gun blueing should do the trick.
Don't forget that the kick panels are mounted with three screws per side.

Looking good. Only thing at first look that pops out other than some of the other comments is the yellow mark on the front spindle
Maybe a misunderstanding of location. In that area the end of the ball joint stud would have been yellow - painted before the nut was installed so the paint often gets knocked fully off the threads
