Please note photos of a valve cover cap that I'm trying to determine the application for.

C = 6
5 = 5
Z = Mustang 1964-73; Mustang II 1974-78; Mustang 1979-later
Z = Ford Parts and Service Division; Parts Engineering Office (Ford Division Service Parts)
6766 = 6000-6898 = Engine
D = level of change

This is the 4th change to the original part designed in 1965. If they designed an entirely new cap in 1968 it would be C8ZZ-6766-A. The changes can come at any time and could reflect finish chrome/paint the way the cap attaches push on/screw on general shape or size. You'd need access to the original prints to see when each change happened.

The same style cap was used from 65-70 .The difference as it pertains to the time frame used is the trademark on the cap. In this case Autolite which was used on 69/70 GT350's.
