Yesterday I took the car out for a little drive.
It turned over 241,000 miles
I really enjoy just driving it around
It's been a long fun trip getting to this
That is fantastic! Drive that puppy!
I have to know what is going on in the second photo?
Steve,
That's really cool, third time around! I'm only on my second with my Hertz. Good to know you get it out whenever possible.

Yeah and had it been a Ferrari you would have hit less than 1,000 miles before needing a major overhaul. There are reasons Ford beat Ferrari into the ground in the 60s and then again at the 2016 LeMans. Congratulations on the journey. Motor on...
And Steve, please let us know when it rolls over 250,000. What a milestone that will be, a cool quarter million!

It's my hang glider on the roof racks, used to drive to Nags Head from Annapolis Maryland to hang glide in the early 70's

Roy, that was the plan to have it over 50 years (purchased Dec 1971) and show up at SAAC47 after driving it across the US again (or drive through all of the 48 states) and have over 250,000 miles on it, don't clean it and show it in Concours
Covid knocked 18 months of driving out of that plan
That is great Steve. Just so happens I am in Nags Head right now. Great place!
That's a real milestone !
very cool - drive on 8)
241,00, that's nothing mine has 370,000

Neat! I might have seen you hanging! We lived outside DC when my dad as at the Pentagon. 1972-summer 75. We vacationed at Rodanthe NC on the outer banks for a week each summer. We'd drive up to Kill Devil and see gliders and such.

Broke my arm hang gliding there in 1973. First person to seriously injure themselves at Jockeys Ridge. Nearest hospital was in Elizabeth City. Still have the hang glider in the shed
Steve, that is so cool! Love that you've not only owned it for many years, but you have ENJOYED DRIVING it throughout those many years. You should write a book...or at least a SAAC article! Congratulations!
Was an article in the 2016 Summer Shelby American
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!
Put another 200+ miles on it today. Went to the Maryland SAAC show up near the Pennsylvania border, a warm day but nice. Two Blue/White 66's, a Red/White 66, two Black/Gold Hertz cars, a 67 GT500 and a real nice 1969 GT350
Nice selection of cars
Where are the pictures?
Will upload them today

Nice looking group...... nice to see a '67 still in lime gold which nowadays seems to be rare !

The biggest reason for the 2016 win was because Ford
created a race car to meet street car rules entered a race car design in a street class (Grand Touring Endurance) made up mainly of Ferrari 488, Aston Martin Vantage, Porsche 911 and Corvettes. PS - It was a class win and 18th overall.
I think I clarified it. I believe LeMans or at least some of the IMSA races were a target from when the engineers pencil first hit the paper.

Yes, true, but it was allowed and winning is winning. "We read your damned rule book."
