Cool read, thanks for sharing that. Definitely right at the top of my bucket list.

Thanks for sharing. To think when I was in Denver I had an extra day and missed this.
Nice article but again an author is perpetuating two urban legends. CSX2000 was not painted in many colors. It was bare aluminum, then yellow for the NY auto show, and finally blue. No pictures are known of it in any other color. And of course, CSX does not stand for Carroll Shelby Experimental. Read the Registry for the correct answer. ;)
Most people think that old story of 2000 getting painted in many color is true.
I beleive I read that in a Motor Trend issue from back in the early '60's
Ned, was the CSX2000 painted yellow twice?
First a solid yellow, and shortly afterwards a pearlescent yellow for the NYIAS.
...later photographed with Terry Bagley at Riverside in early September '62 (B&W photos)
I was able to find one photo taken around July 1965 as painted blue (B&W) at LAX...same license plate.
Here's a poor photo of CSX2000, at I believe Shelby American, photo from a Japanese publication.
Thanks Mike,
I posted that photo last year in the 'Cobra Caravan pictures in NYC' thread.

The photographer was Kyoichi Yomaguchi.
He had an entire article written about his visit to LAX in July 1965.
That was the only photo that showed CSX2000, so it was better than nothing.
I am curious when it was paint blue.
Thanks to Dan Case and his comments in reply #15, he noted CSX2000 was first paint pearlescent yellow, then later bright yellow.
A color photo sent to me years ago, by Kieth Champine, shows chipped paint under the front bumper.
It helps confirm only three colors were painted over the aluminum body.
There was a color photo at NYC in April 1962 that appears to be pearlescent yellow, so...
The only question left is what color yellow was it later in September '62 at Riverside with the Terry Bagley photo shoot?
