Completed on October 23, 1967, and shipped new to Latham Ford in Latham, New York, this 1967 Shelby GT500 was one of the last cars to issue forth from the Shelby American Los Angeles Airport facility before its closure. Ford engineers had added volume to the 1967 Mustang through the front bulkhead to accommodate the 390 CI FE big-block engine for the new Mustang GT, so it was natural for Carroll Shelby to add even more punch to his GT. Drawing on the Police Interceptor 428 CI version of the FE engine, Shelby added two rear-mount Holley 600 CFM 4-barrel carburetors on an aluminum intake manifold and capped it off with his signature finned-aluminum Cobra valve covers and air cleaner; thus, the Shelby GT500 was born. The 1967 Shelbys were the first with custom body styling, incorporating an extended nose section, functional body-side scoops and an upswept tail section that combined for a racy silhouette. A full roll bar with twin inertia-reel safety harnesses headlined the Deluxe Mustang interior, which also incorporated a fold-down rear seat, 140 MPH speedometer, 8,000 RPM tach and Stewart Warner oil-pressure and amp gauges. Shelby No. 3206 has been with the same caring owner for almost 35 years. According to the car's Shelby Registry listing, he purchased it "after a weekend of racing at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course." Then, as now, the car showed just 23,000 original miles and still wore the small-letter Goodyear Speedway 350 tires on Shelby aluminum 10-spoke wheels. Finished in Wimbledon White with a black interior and optioned with a 4-speed manual transmission, the car underwent an extensive restoration, after which it won a Division 1 Premiere Award at SAAC 31 in 2006. It holds a special place in Shelby history as being built in the last week of operation of the Shelby LAX production facility.

A nightmist over parchment that was said to have been Michael Shelby's car sold for $440,000 at BJ in January 2015.

That's a great question. Weren't they well into '68 production by then?
I had heard there was a skeleton crew still at LAX, the '68's were being done by different teams in Michigan.
I remember Jim making many phone calls to Kenny Beers, Bob G and Jeff S during the 9 months of weekends I drove to Jim's to help on #3206. There were a few other guys that would be there helping too, some visit this site also.

There a bit of conflicting info in the registry about when #3206 was completed by Shelby American.
The "1967 Shelby Footnotes" state 10/23/67 with 6 other cars completed that day (page 1139)
The "1967 Shelby Build Data" states 10/26/67 with 4 other cars completed the last day of production (page 1163)
Either way, it was the last week of production.

Yes, 1552 sold for over $400K back in 2006 at BJ Scottsdale.

I saw the speed air GT500 go through and did sell at 160K price I think. That is not including the juice. The owner thought it was a show car he couldn't drive but after looking at it I thought it was a top of the line driver quality car. It still looked very nice and above the quality of the vast majority. It was maybe at the Bronze threshold in DIV II or Trailer concours as a comparison . I thought it was a 180 K car given it's rarity and good color combo.

Regarding #3206 (White GT500) there's a story that when it when to Mid-America for a "Pre SAAC test judging" it was in the hotel lobby with some other cars, some one going through the lobby at about 3 am saw 3 guys under the car up to their waist giving it the once over.
