Title: Looking for 2 1967’s
Post by: Justin l on May 01, 2022, 03:36:15 PM
My dad had both of theses cars. 67 gt 500 last five vin 01633
1967 gt 350. Last 5 vin 01963.  Just wanting to know if either one is still around.  He sold the 350 to pay for my adoption in 1974 and the 500 to pay for my sisters birth in 1977.  Just curious if either car is still around. Just recently found complete vin numbers.

#1633 is not currently accounted for - but there is some known history on it.  Was you dad a Doctor?

#1963 is currently thought to be in Arizona.

Do you have any photos of it?

Suggest you contact Dave Mathews, he is the 1967 Shelby SAAC Registrar,

No dad was the top Shelby salesman at Ken Ray Ford in Dallas, TX.  Got it in on trade and he decided to keep it.  Just sorting through stuff no.

Both cars were sold new in Texas, both were shipped to Horn Williams in Dallas

#1633 was leased initially.

Peg Bradley is listed as one of the owners of #1963

Sorry Horn Williams became Ken Ray then it baca me Middlecauf. Now it part of the Sam pack group. Dad worked for all of them. He was fleet sales manager for my entire life just looking back.  I have more pics just looking for more info. I did finally find his old drag club jacket.

Oh, OK - didn't know the progression of change on that dealer.

Cool jacket hold-on to it!

Since the subject matter is 67 I wanted to mention that the Jacket is from later 68 up era and not 67 just in case you were under the impression it was. It is a very cool jacket regardless .

Never really dug deep into the verbal stories of my father until now.  Just lost him recently and the looking into it all.  Thank you all for any bit of info, it's truly a loom back into my childhood.  If I don't have the right information or timeline, which I know I don't, I thank you all for whatever info you have.  There is another question.

My dad talked about a Firestone commercial that was shot at Dallas International speedway in what's now Lewisville texas with Carol Shelby. Does anyone have any footage of the commercial?

Just looking for a history and connection.  Thank you.

Shelby was a Goodyear dealer. I remember some high speed testing video shot at Goodyear's test facility with Shelby and a white (?) GT500.

Found it https://www.facebook.com/gt350lady/videos/1967-shelby-gt500-supersnake-goodyear-test-run/426960557850249/
Who says 67 Shelbys didn't have overhead stripes?

Shelby was a Good Year guy, there was a Good Year tire event with Carroll Shelby and a '67 GT500 (the Super Snake) that was done, here is a photo of the car at the event...

Sorry to hear about the loss of your dad.  Sounds like he was a good Ford guy and in my book had his priorities in order....selling/giving up 2 Shelbys to make you and your sis possible.

I'm sorry about the Goodyear Firestone debate.  I was wrong my grandfather was the voice of Firestone and that just stuck in my head.  Through the help of a lot of people I now believe 1633 still exists. Going to be going through my parents garage soon.  Any picture or artifact I find I'll post it here.  None of it is or will ever be for sale.  But I'll make sure everything I find is public.  All of it will be saved for my two daughters and hopefully they will cherish it as I do.

.

Tirestones are not a sin - just unusual in Shelby discussions. My wifes grandfather spent over 20 years making their tires in South Gate - https://www.laconservancy.org/issues/firestone-tire-and-rubber-plant  https://www.laconservancy.org/locations/firestone-tire-and-rubber-plant

You need to keep the memories. This is about all she has of his.

Firestone wasn't the biggest tire plant in LA that was Sampson (which was bought by UniRoyal) the outside (over 1/4 mile) wall of the plant was saved and surrounds an outlet mall today.  http://molineux.com/Gallery/Info/SamsonTire.aspx  https://www.google.com/maps/@34.0046676,-118.1535235,3a,48.7y,19.47h,103.41t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sz6o7sViMOWHgVZ5aIlBWAg!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?hl=en
