I have Hagerty and think they are expensive but their claims department is great-if you need them. No hassles. Today is the first day of my 1 year renewal. I wanted to get others but no call backs after leaving info on one, Emailing another with no response. Jumping through hoops on websites for info they wanted I didn't have readily available it didn't pan out but I'm searching even with my renewal.

Heacock. Had a claim and you would have thought my child got hurt the way they responded. Since 1984

I have had Hagerty for ever. I did shop them with others and found Hagerty to be competitive with the others. Never had a claim so I dont know how that that would end up. So far so good.

Hagerty...7 cars...no claims...12 or so years and no issues to date...They will insure a car while it is being restored and the parts... :)

Insurance companies love to take money, hate to pay money. But I use State Farm. They partner with Hagerty to leverage for lower rates (they claim) and I put 2,000 mile year limit on cars. They have never questioned my valuations. One year I had four claims due to massive storm damage and they settled at Classic values. If you have house or any other coverage discounts kick in. I haven't gotten a competing quote in a few years so premiums might be out of line but seem reasonable.

I had 3 claims (really weird happenings on 2 of them in my garage) and the last one my hood molding went aero on a freeway doing 80. Ironically while the claims adjuster was writing an estimate there was a NOS hood molding for BIN 1K on Ebay. 2 days later I called the adjuster and asked as the auction was ending. He said "buy it" as Hagerty was giving me that much for the hood molding in the claim.

I was with Grundy Insurance starting in 1974. They insured our Packard. When the car was totaled by an uninsured motorist they went above and beyond including medical payments to both my wife and l. Years latter, around 2008, had a small claim with the on our 280SL. No problem. But the most impressive claim was on my '66 GT350. When the rear back window shattered. I did some research to find a replacement aftermarket to turn in a claim. The adjuster reminded me that it was better to go with a different brand and have the exact codes on the glass, especially for this car.Gave me a supplier even thou it was almost twice as much. Customer service is what it's all about!!

I've had Heacock for 5 years. Never filed a claim, but when Doug (shlby66) told me how well they handled his claim, I figured that I can't do better. Since SAAC now also partners with Hagerty I figured that I would get a quote as my policy renewed July 1st. Priced same agreed value and mileage for modified 68 GT350 and 2009 Bullitt. Hagerty was about 250% MORE per year than Heacock!

I would definitely shop around. Different cars, different driving records, locations, etc. will make a difference. Good luck!

My insurance is due on July 1st so I decided to check around. I called Heacock(American Modern) and got a quote of 725.00 including the Michigan insurance BS we have to pay for. My Hagerty renewal is over 1500.00. Who has Heacock and how is their service. Hagerty has always been great but come on, 725 V 1500?  I plan on switching over ASAP even before my Hagerty policy expires on that difference.  Gary

Do you put driving mileage limits on your coverage? I can check my policy amounts on all cars when I get to office but even my $350,000 coverage isn't $1,500 with State Farm. I think 2,000 mile driving limit a year.

I have been with Heacock for years. Have 8 cars with them and had 2 claims one minor one kinda Major both excellent claim service.
Had a bent custom rim and adjuster came out wrote up new wheel, tire and balance on the spot. Other one my 2004 Mach 1 rear seat caught on fire from hole on top of muffler! After 2 fire extinguishers and hose fire was put out and interior was a mess. That was during the height of Covid so adjuster called said send pictures and parts list with prices. Stroked a check with out seeing the car.

Only bad thing I can say about Heacock is they would not insure my 1974 Ford C800 Firetruck

I put a 1K limit as I don't drive either one a thousand miles a year.

Sadly, we have seen this story over and over again. A car owner is out "shopping around" for automobile insurance and gets quotes from different companies. The insurance agent wants to make a sale so he offers "stripped down" coverage in order to offer a very low premium. The price sounds great to the car owner, so they purchase the "stripped down" insurance. Not long afterwards, the person is in a serious car accident and they discover that their insurance coverage is not very good.

Never skimp on insurance my 3 cents worth

My quote is with the same exact coverage I have now. For most of us insurance shopping isn't our first rodeo-especially with 6 figure cars.

We've had Heacock for over 30 years.  Keep in mind that Heacock is a broker. They will find the best insurer for you, depending on what you have to insure and where you're located. Hagerty seems to be trying their best to monopolize the car collector insurance market.  They're sponsoring all levels of car shows, tours, big advertising campaigns, videos, etc. All that costs big bucks and it seems to be reflected in their high premiums. I'm not so sure their intensions are in our best interests.

Yes Hagerty is trying to monopolize the industry. Big Wall St money. They have been buying up big events like Amelia Concours and others etc
They want to own everything car related.
They own Broad Arrow Auction house too

Thanks for more insight on Hagerty, Guys. I'm dealing with Heacock and ,yes, American Modern  is what the quote is on so they must be the company of choice for Mi. Hagerty fought me for years on cancelling my collision for the winter. I gave up last year on fighting them. They claim my premiums reflect that I don't drive my car 7-8 months out of the year compared to say a Floridian. Horse bleep!. I'm finalizing or should I say getting more clarity on everything then I'm switching before my policy is up on July 1. So do Floridians pay a LOT more that 1525 to drive 2 vehicles insured for 240K year round? I doubt it. Hey, my claims experience is A+++++ but I'm tired of insurance costs for all my cars and home each year.

Hagerty also owns Broad Arrow Group (auctions, collectors garage and capital). Seems rather insideous to me.

^^^^ +1...and then they post stories about their picks for the next types of best-appreciating cars.

Meaning: Better buy one now.

Don't know how or where to buy one?  Simply check out our Hagerty auctions online, or great cars at the auction houses we also own!

In other words: Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

It's big business now. No longer a mom & dad company.  Sad turn of events, IMO.

I called Heacock to see about insuring my 1995 F250 because I know that Auto Owners will beat me up if it gets in a wreck. Heacock wouldn't insure it for two reasons - it's not "collectable" according to them and they won't cover it at all if I pull a trailer.  :(

Unfortunately had to submit a claim to Hagerty not to long ago.  Fortunately it wasn't the Shelby.  Hagerty was excellent and took care of me with zero hassles.
Title: Re: What insurance do you guys use

Bottom line?  I had 160K on my Shelby and 80K on my Mach1. 1524.80 for one year with Hagerty on my renewal at the end of this month. This accounts the matching of my Mi mandated fees.
Heacock(American Casualty) was 725.00 for SAME coverage. I bumped up my Shelby to 180K and now it was 762.00 for my 1 year of exact coverage(other than the 20K bump up) so just about half of Hagerty(80 cents).
So if was a no brainer here changing to Heacock. Gary

Seems kinda funny, but I can't seem to easily find a list of the companies that are now included in the same ownership as "American Collectors Insurance".
Heacock and Condon-Skelly are included, I think that there is at least one more(?)

I've had Condon-Skelly since 1985... back when a nearby location was important - I could drive over there on my lunch break with the needed photos.
One claim a while back, I was treated very well and they had no issues making sure it was fixed right.

My friend who lives by me has a 71 Boss 351 and a 70 Gt500 vert that he has about the same coverage as me with Hagerty. His bill is due in a few weeks and he thought his cost was around 1350. He is going to look at it and get a quote from Heacock to see.
