Title: KR Drive Shaft (July Build) balance weights, u-joint originality
Post by: Craner on July 10, 2022, 04:06:49 PM
I'm getting ready to send out my drive shaft for restoration.
    -  Replace the tube & restore what I believe to be the original u-joints.

Did Ford typically install the balance weights at a certain distance from the ends?
    - I included photos of my crusty drive shaft assy.
        - Shows 2 weights at the yoke end, and then 1 weight at the rear end u-joint.

There are still small amounts of the original paint markings.  (Orange, violet)
Originally appears to be correct, based on my knowledge.

Thoughts/Comments appreciated.
Thanks
Fran

https://www.deadnutson.com/custom-reproduction-driveshaft/   is who everyone who wants one restored like original uses. If you are trying to have your driveshaft re tubed and balanced by someone local chances are the weights will not look like original If you are wanting to save dollars and short cut the original process then the information on his website should come in handy. Best of luck regardless of what you decide.
