Title: Im an OLD FART!
Post by: crossboss on August 28, 2022, 04:03:12 PM
I guess I am officially an 'OLD FART' since I just joined AARP...and using the discounts! Wow, where did the time fly bye to...?

Ha!   But you're among the youngest of the rest of the Truly Old Farts on here.

This would be an interesting/depressing survey of SAAC members:

% who are AARP members
% on Social Security
% on Medicare
% in Huggies for Seniors
% too old to care

As on "old Fart" ....77, At open track events we are referred to as the "gray" group. Most gray group drivers have more experience with real CSX 2000 & 3000, 65 s& 66s cars than the new generation! Gray group "members" have the memories and and stupid mistakes....! A disappearing group!

Huggies for Seniors, with a CS autograph, is a pretty solid idea.  Oops, I meant "soiled".

Just an observation...

Kind of odd that people that have expressed anti-"democrat" viewpoints on the forum are joining groups that financially support them.

But I guess its worth the 10% at Dennys.

:o

There is actually something happening with that thought. Members of both major parties are supporting the opponents in the opposite party in hopes of running against the weakest or most radical candidate.

Here in NY, Trump is actually supporting a guy running for Congress in NYC that was one of the "Impeachment Managers" against him (the second time).

As was pointed out to me "May you live in interesting times" was actually intended as a curse. I think that I get that part now?

I've sure gotten old!

I've had two bypass surgeries, a hip replacement,

new knees, fought prostate cancer and diabetes

I'm half blind, can't hear anything quieter than a jet engine,

take 40 different medications that

make me dizzy, winded, and subject to blackouts.

Have bouts with dementia. Have poor circulation;

hardly feel my hands and feet anymore.

Can't rem emb er if I'm 85 or 92.

Have lost all my friends. But, thank God,

I still have my Florida driver's license.

:o

Never had (or will have) AARP due to their political viewpoints. I also don't spend my money going to the movies which only puts my money in their pockets to spend on their liberal causes.
Most places have a senior discount without an AARP card.

^^ Agreed.

Remember when 50 seemed so old, and seniors were woefully out of touch?

Now 50 seems so young, and (most of) the old timers are the smartest people around.

At the end of that it should have said
"By the time I get to the car to go somewhere I've forgotten where I was going so I just go back inside and can't remember why I'm there either "

A number of years ago I was still in my 40s I contacted a company concerning the comics they printed, it was Rip Off Press and the

comics  were "The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers". The lady I spoke to on the phone (no internet yet !) said you're a COF, I said

whats that ? she said Certified Old Fart !   ::)   ;)

I have to admit (so far!) I have not inherited my parents old age issues like needing glasses, back problems, etc.

Neither of my parents needed glasses - except my mom in her late 70s for reading.
My sister needed them in elementary and I got them in high school.
My dad had back problems as do I - but they were both injury caused not hereditary.
Everybody in the family lives past their mid 90s - my dad's 3great grandmother is the family record holder she was 103 when she died in 1871. They figured she lived so long because she never left the farm so she wasn't exposed to illnesses.

Years ago i went to get my first passport, since they required either a certified copy or my original raised seal birth registration ( i was born in DC and they don't have birth certificates only birth registration certificates)  I had my original registration and the hospital issued birth certificate ( not good for any form of ID but looks cool)
The Birth Registration is printed on the cheapest paper available and in in BIG BOLD LETTERS along the top it says "This certificate is good effective March 1st, 1907"  The local post office would not accept it and I had to go into DC to the main Passport Office  to submit it. The older gentleman at the information kiosk said he had not seen an original certificate in almost 15 years. The certificate is the same one that both my mother, father in law and mother is law and my wife all had. They apparently ran out of them in the early 50's but it still makes for a crazy conversation piece.
P.S. I am not 115 years old    yet

Great picture...That could have been me in the 1980s! I had the Robert Plant hair, drove/raced Fords, was a dumb skinny kid, (did semi dumb shit), chased the girls...Fast forward to 2022..have some of my hair, still drive/race Fords, gained a few pounds (not too much!), dont do dumb shit anymore (now much smarter/wiser!), still chase the girls. So, some things never change. LOL
