Does he also restore the spokes?
The wood on my wheel was restored decades ago but the spokes  appear a little bent and scratched.

Metal working spokes is quite different than wood restoration.

Hi Bill,
In the past, Jeff Stephens has told me he does not do anything to the metal spokes or center hub part of the steering wheel. He will do some simple polishing on the spokes where they meet the wood (where the phenolic material joints the metal and wood) to improve appearance but nothing "metal working" like you describe.

Is Specialty Wheels in Florida still in business? I think that’s the name, I sent my wheel to them in about 2000 or so and they did a terrific job, fixed two broken spokes and refinished the rim, it looks amazing still.

I think that they have been gone for at least 10 to 15 years.

You could also try Best In Show. They specialize in rim blow wheels but also restore others. I got a 68' wheel from them and it is very nice.

I knew what you meant when you were talking steering wheels and Florida. They did a number of wheels for me over the years. Similar names that can easily get confused but Automotive Specialties in FL did steering wheels and Specialty Wheels in WA sold and restored the drive wheels on the cars. Both are long gone by over a decade .

Jeff Stephens did my 67 wheel, the job was only okay, he replaced a piece of wood and the color was quite different. I called him and he said to stop by when in the area (I drive by there on my way to Ithaca once in a while). Then Covid hit and afterwards I haven't been able to reach him.

I know, that some "restoration" services actually get your wheel, and pass it to Jeff to do....
