Title: RIP Ken Block
Post by: 68krrrr on January 03, 2023, 03:25:00 AM
I realize i'm a little younger than most guys around here but i assume most of you have heard of this guy ,he was a huge part of Ford Performance  motorsports team for years & founder Honnigans.Just a goat in the motorsports world for my generation, apparently he died in a snowmobile accident which was one of his other extreme sports. If you haven't already seen these videos ,do your self a favor & kick back in front of your big screen tv with the surround sound turned up & watch some of the greatest motorsports videos ever made IMO , with  some gear banging from a bad ass 65 mustang RIP
The Los Angeles one is my fav with all the LA landmarks ,but Pikes peak one is pretty sick also & London ,his videos fueled a generation of young motor sports enthusiasts, wether you like them or not.

His videos are some of the most bad A-- of blinding speed and driving known around the world.
I think he was a FORD guy at heart.
Any bets, if Carroll and Kens paths would have crossed back then in the 50's-60's, Block would have been driving and or building bad a-- cars for Shelby. YES ?

A family man that is now forever a shooting star in time.
One cool thing very few do, he brought younger sets into our game guys, !
RIP Ken.
Condolences to his family.
Respectfully,
John

Shit! This really sucks. Another one of my hero's gone. It's tough, as we all get older and the people we admire pass on. Damn this hurts! Ken was the same age as my wife and a bit older than me but I looked up to him and was a big admirer of his.

I was so excited to see his Hoonigan car at SEMA in Vegas only two short months ago this past November. Rest in peace and race in peace. Will miss you, will miss your videos and will miss your legend. RIP brother.

I met and talked with him at the Mustang 45th Anniversary Event at the Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham Alabama. Very nice guy.  He will be missed for sure.

RIP Ken. Last week I was watching a video of him driving around a barge out in a bay at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn in front of his Ford that is on display there. Always a fan and introduced his videos to many of my friends/coworkers. He will be missed.

So sad.... when you think of all the risks he took drifting his cars.   RIP Ken

He was definitely the King of Sideways!    Would've been cool to see him do some of that in a (replica) Cobra 427.

Here's a great clip about some of the history of Ken. It's really worth taking a few minutes to watch it.......... just because.
