It's a shame that the GT40 J-10 has such tacky looking tires, the way they left the Hoosier markings on, and added a blue stripe and Goodyear letters. They should have had Bella (at CSX2259's shop) do it.

Wow lots of cars for sale this year. Guess everyone has a reason so not going to speculate. One can only guess unless they know the owner or dealer

Listed in the Shelby Registry - so cool that it was allowed to be listed in there with all of the other Shelbys that are also listed. What a highlight.

It wasn't included in the list/links in the OP since it's not a Shelby.

Pete, is there a car you're referring to specifically?  I've asked the website team to update details for the wording on the 67 K code.
They edited the info I gave them originally and it's slightly misleading.

Well its a general feeling of frustration

In this case, the report looks to be interpreted correctly.

Thanks.  I do agree often people don't read the stats info correctly.

Well its a general feeling of frustration

In this case, the report looks to be interpreted correctly.
My frustration is the "rarity" of so many cars from Kevin. I like to break it down to model and how many built. Take for instance my 70 Gt350 vert. Ford converted 57 69 models to 70. So my car is one of 57. I don't care how many red green blue or white ones were built. Autos or 4 speed. There were 57. So if they built 30,000  c-code 67 Fastbacks  and one was delivered to TIM BUCK TOO it doesn't make it rare. There were still 30K made with a 289 2V.

shelbymann1970,

As we know it's all part of the marketing and "alure" of the stats report from Kevin.
If he can break it down to 1 of 1 he will so when the avg Joe gets their report they are "wowed"

I know of one like this but a black interior that went to the crusher in 1977(could have bought it). Rusted out with a blown engine. So I'm sure the survival rate isn't high on these cars.

Lot # 211.1...  1967 GT500. Just returned from the auction. 2 people bidding on the car. The one guy [sitting next to us] just did not want to go past $270k!!! Auctioneer convinced the other person [a lady I think] to bid $300k to shut him out. BOOM...$300k! THEN, since he lost that car, he immediately bid on a really nice 4-speed Hemi Cuda 2 cars later and walked away with that for $250k + 10% so $275k! He said he really wanted the Shelby but ended up with the Cuda. Lots of fun and some marvelous cars for a Friday before the big week! Will be going again next week a couple of times.

Yes, it sold later but I don't remember them announcing it. They tried hard to hammer it sold on the block, but I guess the dude needed to "reflect".

Why ask if you're truly sorry!? Lol

Can you explain why you say this about Mecum?
I'm asking since this is my first time at any big auction let alone having a car go through it.
I have a buddy who does a lot of Mecum auctions and is running 45 cars thru Kissimmee currently.

Regardless of how my car does, I'm glad I came to experience it.
Running a production like this in my eyes is a big undertaking but they do it often so they
have it down to a well oiled machine it seems

Nothing replaces being here. I bid on two GT350s today. The red one that hammered for 70K. I had the next highest bid of 67.5K, which was a fair bid for a 70 Windsor FMX, considering the additional vig... Then the white 69 that didn't sell at 75K was covered in undercoating, had a broken windshield, and wouldn't stay running. It was blowing heavy blue smoke. I also bid on the Black Jade Cobra Jet Auto with AC, was outbid by 1K as it hammered at 73K, because I watched as it was pushed into the room because it didn't run. They said the starter locked up while they were moving it around before the auction.

But, the folks bidding at home didn't see any of that. Glad I bid appropriately. Looking forward to the next 4 days of Shelbys. They look great!

Agreed. Nothing replaces being present at the auction. LOTS of Shelbys tomorrow [Friday]. I plan to be there again tomorrow just for the excitement. Really nothing like it. Nothing really sleezy about them, IMO. They are just selling cars and satisfying dreams!

Mecum the sleaziest? I'd say no. Why? Well a friend of mine  has run a lot of cars through Mecum over the years and he has said nothing bad about them. They also try and get the bidder and seller together on common ground eating commissions if necessary. Mecum also let SAAC members get into the Spring show for free in 2019. Has any other auction company done that? Also maybe I missed it but I don't see Mecum  stopping no reserve auctions and "educating" the bidders how how much more a car is worth. I find that to be really cheesy and condescending.

My opinion on Mecum is that the worst cars tend to go through their auction. I have seen many that were purchased completely misrepresented, bondo, rust, rod knocks, vin issues, etc. It appears they will list anything without any due regard. This does not mean good cars don't cross the block, it just means you better be there in person and know what you are looking at.

If they have had vin issues in the past I think they have stepped up the inspection process.
My buddy ran his Blazer through yesterday and they were real sticklers prior to it getting here to make him find the frame vin. My buddy who runs a lot of cars thru Mecum says when it comes to vins they are strict. I know there are 5-10 cars sitting on the back lot not being run due to vin issues.
They even made my vin more visible which kinda annoyed me (I wasn't here during the inspection).

I just had a vehicle go thru Mecum Kissimmee 2023 and after sending them pictures for entry I got an email saying they noticed the VIN rivets where not factory and I had to send pictures of VIN on the frame....( vin plate had been taken off a non ford to clean paint off of it....color change)

Most auction houses have been sued by now for bad vin's so they have stepped up their due diligence.

Mecum is no different then any other auction house.....you better do your homework before bidding.....same as buying from an individual

and yes they all play games but that's been going on since the beginning of time

Most auctions that have a lot of cars like BJ Mecum and a few others have good cars and bad. I'd argue these cars in the link are pretty nice cars with no issues. They belong to a friend of mine and he is a member here who owns 4 65 Shelbys among his collection(possibly soon to be lowered by one). https://www.mecum.com/auctions/kissimmee-2023/collections/keystone-collection/
He ran these cars through in the spring indy.  None were junk or "issues" cars. Any auction there are usually cars that people are dumping whether local auctions, dealer auctions, etc. I 100 percent agree you better know what you are looking at.

I was happy to see that there are people out there who understand what a cool car this is.  Ive been looking (not very seriously) for one of these for a little while. Looks like Haggerty may have to adjust their valuation on these.  Granted one car does not set a market but these cars don't change hands very often so its kind of hard to say.

this is also the closest I've seen a K code to a GT350 in regards to pricing (same years).

I think with or without the buyer fees it's a current record.
I got to Mecum Sunday afternoon and it was interesting hearing comments and discussing the car with people. Some had no clue what it was and felt it was "oh just a 289 and not an S code" but once it got under the staging area Weds night more knowledgeable Mustang enthusiasts started coming out of the woodwork. I met some great Mustangs guys and the car received a ton of compliments. Heck some who didn't even know much about Mustangs wanted to bud in it due to the overall color combo of the car.
If you've never been to Mecum Kissimmee and have a chance in the future try to attend this part of the 2nd week. If for nothing else it's an amazing car show. The variety is excellent.

Mecum rents the facility so the owner would have to pave a lot of road to fix that. I believe either the state or the county owns the facility. It's huge, we are talking about miles of road.

Regarding dust etc. Here's my take. When you consign a car with Mecum you have 3 category of choices that cost $500, $1k, $1500. It seems depending on which you chose determines your potential day and lot #. If you do the $1500 category you have to state a range you expect the car to hammer for. Your category and lot # also determined where your car gets placed on display. All the collection cars are inside or under a tent on pavement. The rest are either under no tent or under tent on grass. It gets very dusty and it's a constant battle to keep the cars clean. Mine got delivered Thurs last week and when I got there Sunday afternoon it was pretty dirty, spent 2 hours cleaning it and then each day after 2-3x wiping dust off it.
It's best if you're a seller to be there in person or have someone there representing you.
If a Vert top was left down it was most likely because the owner put it down prior to going across the block. The Mecum drivers are so busy they don't have time to put up every top that was down when it was time for them to drive it.
Oceola Park as Royce mentioned is rented by Mecum. I'm curious how much in advance Mecum gets into town to set up because it takes a lot of setup.
I think I read the whole park (including a stadium) is 200 acres. I was advised to bring or rent a golf cart and I'm glad I did! They do have a company on site renting the one person little scooters for $60/day.

Hope that sheds some light on things.

Wow the bids are through the roof! Shelby's are apparently on the most wanted list.

I do get sick of the BS hype " One of only 43 Gulfstream Aqua GT500s built for 1969, this Shelby has completed a comprehensive restoration by a previous owner right down to the correct tags, chalk marks and paint codes. Powered by its original R-Code 428 Cobra Jet engine with factory Ram Air, the GT500 combines performance with luxury thanks to its close-ratio Toploader 4-speed transmission and Traction-Lok rear axle plus optional factory air conditioning.
FORD sticker on sill plates? Air cond added to car(hey I like it but doesn't make it anally restored). Black grill and license plate bracket? Scott Drake shift knob? Lots of other things like non Dearborn radiator cap and chrome license plate lights. While a beautiful car it should have said a comprehensive resto but not  concours with air condition added. Also no traction lock-conventional rear end as to WHY it got down to being a "1 of 1" in the Marti report. My favorite? The "CORRECT" Caution Fan sticker.  :o

While I'm on a roll what is considered highly unrestored? With the very limited pics I see the DS door window stops bolts  painted blue. To me that says a repaint on the inside of the door so I'd think the whole car. I am not home to check my registry but never heard of 2 documented paxton 69 Shelbys. UPDATE: No proof of it being a SC car I have been told.     https://www.mecum.com/lots/FL0123-537689/1969-shelby-gt350-fastback/

+1  I'd love to see the date codes on inner metal in the trunk. I'd say there were informed Shelby buyers there because it was bid so low.

I noticed the 66 gt350 that sold with the fake vin tag didn't bring that much in comparison to the others.

All results are posted on the first post.

Thank you for all the nice comments.  I hope this helped.

Sorry for not including the 67 K code (awesome car) and many others....  I love all Ford powered vehicles, but I would be here for days and I had to cut it off at some point, so I figured just the Shelby products considering this is a Shelby driven forum.

Have a good day!

Does anyone have the background on lot S76.1? This is the '66 with Walt Hane's name on the rear quarter and looks to be converted to R Model specs. Jere Creed's name is on the door so I assume he was the driver. The announcers say this is a real Shelby that started life as a GT350H. It seems like there were one or two bids and it flat-lined at $110,000.

(The car is on episode 11 around 1:17)

No need to apologize at all.  Thanks for starting the post, it was great to have all the Shelby related cars in one post.  Totally understand why others were not included here.

States that it is a '66 Hertz car restored by Walt Hane for vintage racing.
