Title: Gaurdsman Blue paint code
Post by: mlplunkett on January 23, 2023, 03:43:52 PM
I've seen various comments about the variation in the color that falls into the category of "Guardsman Blue" but I'm wondering if someone has a paint code or an existing factory paint designation that is a good replication of guardsman blue. I'm looking to replicate the appearance of the Mark Donohue version of 5R105.

After a lot of trial and error, painting a lot of test panels, along with help from our paint supplier, we
settled on: PPG DBC #12832 Caribbean Blue, aka Guardsman Blue. It's been on my '66 for quite sometime
   and still looks really good.

Just realized I probably should have started with another question. My current thought is to paint my R model tribute project to represent the Mark Donohue car as restored by LMC. My question is "was the Donohue car Guardsman Blue?"  I have asked about the paint code on the LMC web site and got no reply.
