Title: 1966 Hertz #1616 and 2004 Mach1
Post by: klikus3 on January 23, 2023, 06:28:48 PM
Hi All!  I have not been on this site for over a year, so I may be a bit rusty. I have a few concerns and need your help. In addition to my Hertz #1616, I have a 2004 Mustang Mach 1 and I am trying to get raised white letter tires for this car. The size is 245/45/ZR17. Can anyone help me ---PLEASE?
Next, my 1966 Hertz is a matching numbers car. The motor, trans and rear all are in order and match when Shelby put this together in 1966. My only concern after having this car completely redone, are the courtesy lights in the doors. There are No wires going directly to these lights BUT the holes were correctly cut out from the factory. There is no doubt as to this. Every part of these doors also indicate that they are black, and they were NEVER any other color. could I have a Shelby with courtesy lights installed from the factory or did an owner from the past at some time, change both doors? Will you help me with this?
Lastly, I would like to get the correct carburetor that belongs to this '66 Hertz. Will you please help me with this too? I am not experienced with computers. My wife had to get me on this site. I welcome phone calls and would be grateful. I had a friend that was found on this site, but he decided to abandon me. He was my greatest help and was a genius on these cars. I think I asked him too many questions. PLEASE call me!

What are the date codes of the sheet metal that makes up the door?  Inner section can be found behind the door panel and the outer section is typically dated under the outer belt line weatherstrip.

This will tell us when the door sections were stamped and in turn the general period the door was made. This can then be compared to other cars built around the same time at San Jose. Understand your concern that the doors currently have the lights mounted as they would be on a deluxe interior Mustang and not a regular 66 Shelby. Not including 6S001  ;)

Also check for the hole in the forward edge (door jamb) of the doors where the wire loom would pass through to power the lights while your checking things

Expect that we will find that the doors were swapped or a prior owner liked the lights and added them just going through the steps as part of the investigation and collection of data

Thank you!

don't think you can get raised white letters for that tire size, we had a 2004 Mach this us what we did:
