Title: Carburetor for Rent a Racer 1966 auto #1616
Post by: klikus3 on January 24, 2023, 03:52:21 PM
Can anyone help me? I sent a general post yesterday and, sadly, got only 1 response to 3 questions I asked. I really can use some help with one of these questions. I have a 1966 Hertz Rent a Racer automatic#1616. I am looking to find a rebuilt carburetor for my car. I was told I needed a C6ZF-F probably a FOMOCO carb. Can anyone help me find one?
Thank you.
Ed at 267-566-3336 Feel free to call.

Did you try posting in the WANTED section of the site?

Good luck with your search and read through the threads on the differences between originals and the clones/fake one for sale out there.

Don't be "that guy"

Good luck with that one.  The automatic versions of the Hi-Po carburetor rarely come up for sale.  I had to settle for the four speed version (C6ZF-C) for my Hertz car since I could not find the right one.  Then be prepared to pay a large sum.  Asking prices could be as much as $4 or $5K for the real deal.  These carbs are extremely scarce.  And don't get fooled by clones.  There are a lot out there.  If you have to pay big money, you need to get what you pay for.  Good luck on your search.

Once you have the carb dailed in, you will be happy with the way it performs.  These Autolite carbs are great carburetors and will probably run better than a Holley, cfm for cfm.  The secret is in the annular discharge venturi and the integral emulsion tubes.

I'm a little sorry at the way you have been treated after your initial posting.

The forum is very good and I hope you will continue to participate. The information is second to none, if you can endure some of the commentary

Concur with S7MS427 comments.  When I restored my GT350H the only carburetor available at the time was a C6ZF-C.  It took several years until I was able to locate a correct C6ZF-F carburetor through a reputable carburetor restorer who could provide verification that their rebuildable C6ZF-F carburetor was authentic and original.  The price range quoted is in line with what I paid for such an old and rare carburetor.

I've got one I'd part with in that price range.

Send a PM if interested.

Thanks
