Title: 67 GT500 Battery Question
Post by: bullitt1939 on February 25, 2023, 11:00:29 PM
I have a question about the battery in my 67 GT500. I need to replace it and have seen Autolite with and without red lettering on the side. Which is the correct battery replacement?

No red lettering on the sides. With that said I think you should know that the repro batteries are of a 68 style (top) and not 67. There are no repros yet that are of the 65-67 assemblyline style.  The repros currently available are the next best thing but the color on the sides is the least of your issues because they are a 68 production year style. Also the base GT500 group 24 battery had yellow vent caps but if the car was ordered with the heavy duty battery option like many were then that battery was identified with red vent caps

Interesting Bob, never knew the cap difference. Got me to looking at my original pictures. Mine had red caps but never knew why!
