Title: "Truth in the Morning" Daytona Coupe Article
Post by: SFM66H on March 11, 2023, 06:19:14 PM
Does anyone know the source of this article? I grabbed these separate images somewhere but would like to get the magazine(?) and then scan & stitch them together.

Thanks!
Kieth

Not completely sure, but I have stayed in Holiday Inns.

Page layout is similar to Sports Car International formally published by Ross Periodicals.

Szabo,

MANY Thanks - Well Done!! I appreciate it very much.

Sadly though, this revelation means that I will not be able to acquire this article and stitch those pages together! Because of the almost-‘unacquirable’ publication in which they are contained!

Alas, one of the most regretful incidents of my Shelby life is having a brand new copy of that book in my hands at a Road America / Elkhart Lake, Wis. Shelby event, and passing on it because of its then princely price tag of $125. I just couldn’t make myself pull the trigger at that time…

I have been reliving that forehead slap moment every day I have looked back on it since then.

Thanks again for your help!
This now becomes another chapter in that infamous moment from my past.

Hello Kieth, always a big pleasure when i am, as a youngster in the Shelby Game, can find something

i do also a little research by the book, BOY, why it is so expensive meanwhile
but dont be sad, we all missed chances in the past
How many person had the chance to buy a Shelby in the past 50 Years for less than 250,000 bucks and
even more today.

Maybe you have the chance that someone have the book and let you make a good scan, if i had it
and did live in USA, i would do it ... One Hand wash the other.

i also love your work of these very good scanned articel and the overwork you do to that scans.

For one other project i send you a pm, maybe you can anser me

Yep - Thanks…

Kieth,
I asked Peter Brock last year if there was going to be a reprint, but he says it was a “one and done” type of deal.  I like you, had one in my hand and didn’t buy it. We can get together and bang out collective heads against the wall. I had the car out a few weeks ago and came home and spent a half hour digging the mud out of the tires and cleaning the wheel wells, made an awesome pile of dirt. The wife said I should take a picture of it and send it to you. Maybe I’ll make it to MCACN this year. Are you going to be there? I’ll bring you a souvenir of actual “Dirt from a Shelby”  😊

Steve,

So you can feel my pain about letting the book slip thru your hands too, 'eh? Ouch!

Yes, I'll be at MCACN again this year, but I'll be furtively darting around thru the dark areas, so as to avoid the dirt demon . . . .  :o

I am in France and I read this book 2 months ago.
One of my friend has a full signed version of it (100 signed on the 400 printed?).
Very good book, very readable.
Unfortunetely, nearly impossible to get it appears.

Hi cobra fans,
You can add me to the list of coulda shoulda woulda bought it after seeing it and even talking to Mr. Brock about it....I had only enough money for gas to get home and have since watched it go
off the price scale. A good friend has a copy and has allowed me to read it. Very inside info on how these cars were built. I also have been lucky enough to see all but CSX2287 in person....someday
I will get to Dr. Simones  Museum to see this car and complete the list. Both Pete Brock and George Stauffer have said it was a one time deal....Pete is still not happy (he was supposed to proof
read it prior to printing and was never given the chance.) Just so you know the book on CSX2300 is also very nice...and I could not let it pass...
