Title: First day Goodwood Festival of Speed featured self-driving 1965 Ford Mustang.
Post by: A1965GT350 on July 13, 2018, 08:00:17 PM

Siemens' autonomous ran a 1965 Mustang Coup up the Goodwood hill climb
It was the first autonomous road car to climb the Duke of Richmond's hill. Not bad for a 53-year-old American pony car.

1965 Mustang - They picked a good car to attract attention to their effort. Felt sorry for the 2 adults in the back seat. Been there. Done that. A bit cramped.

Wow. That was really hard to watch. For some reason, I expected the car to drive straight on the straight aways...boy, was I wrong!  ;D

How about a 190 HP lawn mower complete with mower deck at Goodwood, and it calls for a human driver.

Some background on its appearance clears some fake news (on other websites) up.

"Because the TV production guys thought it would look better on camera if we could see the steering wheel moving on its own."

With "reality" programming, it's always about image.

Aside from the technology existing, why would anyone be interested in a Mustang they could only ride in?

Driving matters.

They couldn't even make both brake lights work!  I think we're safe for a while.  Not very good advertising for Siemens.
