Replacing the cam in my Little Red replica. Been looking at the Lunati 10330703lk anyone have any knowledge about this cam. Looking for input. I have a 428CJ in the car
A little more info is required: Automatic or stick? Compression ratio, iron or aluminum heads, dual or single four barrel, type of intake. And, do you want a smooth idle or lumpy.
I too am building a clone of Lil'Red too, so, all this matters. It too will have a CJ block.
428CJ Top loader 4speed 3.89 gears cast iron heads and factory exhaust manifolds. been running a comp cams 282 mechanical. had a cam failure so going to have to do a rebuild over the winter. compression ratio will be in the 10.5 to 11.0 range when done. Running a single 750 Holley Carb.
Meanwhile: I was just cleaning up my work bench and happened across some cam specs....yesterday. Give me a day or so to find them again. And NO, my wife does NOT tidy up my stuff so it walks away.....
Here you go. This is from a September 2013 Mustang Monthly. There was an article in it about building a stout big block FE motor. And yeah, this one featured Survivor Motorsports FELony aluminum heads.
In the text it was suggested that since these heads flowed so much better, a more strreetable cam could be used. The old cam specs: 0.594 lift
234 degree duration
The new cam specs: 0.563 lift
224 degreee duration.
Their engine was pushing 500 horse power on a 445 C.I.D. engine
Well, that was five years ago. And now there are new Trick Flow heads just introduced. Good luck.
Thanks for the info Will check into it
