Looking for a set of 68 pie plates. Have to be nice enough for a driven show car. I think I can salvage my centers.
Thanks.

Doesn't need to be a complete set, will buy individual pieces.
Rod, Since you're just looking for pie plates expand your reach and look at the Ford full-size ones too. Lotta times there are new old stock sets for under $800
Will do, thanks Tim.
What do these pie plates look like? I think I have an idea.
a pie plate. phred
Pie plate
Odd-looking pie plate. I like the one type of wheel cover that is a 5-spoke that looks like a mag wheel that has been bead-blasted on part of it, with chromed edges. Are they called mag wheel covers? Oh, boy. Take it easy on me, Scoops.

That type of hubcap as it relates to 67 and 68 Shelby is made up of 2 piece's . The pie plate (what it is commonly called) is the base portion and typically seen as the outside edge. The 5 spoke portion is a separate piece and is secured to the center of the pie plate portion . The two are held together by metal screws.
The original hubcaps were made by Harwood industries and had a variety of variations. The pie plates were different offering a 14 and a 15 inch version. The center section was always the same whether 14 or 15 inch however what was in the middle determine the application. Garwood made these for ford, Chrysler and various GM models
A pie plates are stainless steel. The very center part that was painted was left burnished or unpolished. The outer part was flash chromed and buffed . There also are two different versions of the 15 inch pie plates and I believe it was because of two different stamping dies and not so much a time. Difference. I doubt anybody has ever notice the difference is as it is to subtle for someone to notice unless you seen hundreds of these
Thanks for the clarification on these neat wheel covers guys.

Just curious, don't shoot me for using the "C" word............. Are the Ford Pie Plates the same as the Chevy Pie Plates?
I believe the pie plates are the same for GM, Chrysler and Ford. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

That is too broad of a statement as stated however there are other GM ,Chrysler and Ford applications that used the same style pie plate. They are just as hard to find nice but it does widen the net .
Pretty sure all the GM and Chrysler are 14".
I'd love to get a set of these someday.
