Title: Ode to Valentine's Day
Post by: deathsled on February 13, 2019, 12:23:53 PM
For those of you in successful and happy marriages or relationships feel at liberty to ignore. But for those of you run through the meat grinder of divorce and failed relationships, this one's for you.

Ode to Valentine's Day

by Richard E.

It comes but once a year
A day to loathe and fear

Sweet smiles and turtle doves
But no one really loves

It’s fake as you can see
No love for you or me

What is that day we fear
Valentine’s Day my dear

On the upside, my Steinway 7 footer comes to the house tomorrow. I couldn't be happier!

Thanks Tony. I wrote the poem after marriage number three crashed into a mountain. It's all in the rear view and I am stronger for it. Ironically I was married in Vegas on Valentine's Day back in 2006. That was the second one.

Mr. Steinway has arrived. I found a dead fly resting on the soundboard. The prior owners just didn't love it enough. Now it's under new management. I think I can get a poem out of The Fly in the Piano.

What year is it made? Has an old Steinweg from 1930!

It's a 2000. It will outlive me if I care for it. And I will...It is part of their Crown Jewel Collection done in East Indian rosewood. I can't believe the sellers let it go for the agreed upon sale. I am astounded no one else jumped on it. But black pianos are favored over natural wood. I am the outlier when it comes to natural wood preference.

Steinway will restore your piano for you if needed. They will certify it as Steinway restored. The old ones command a lot of money and respect when done up properly.
And thank you Tony. Care and piano, my two passions in life. And writing automotive horror and silly poems...

Congrats on your good taste in pianos...and cars!  Here's a pic of wife's 1936 M in ebony. Excellent condition, beautiful ivory. She purchased it some 20+ years ago, truly something special.

What a beautiful heirloom! The bass on Steinways are thunderous! I tried the opening to Rachmaninoff's Second Piano Concerto this morning. It roared!

As an addendum, there is a book out there that compiled all the letters written by Chopin's students about lessons they had with him and the appendix to this book has the 10 pages Chopin wrote on how to play. He never finished the book but all the letters compiled give a strong idea of his playing style. I bought the book for $50.00. Who wouldn't give $50.00 for some lessons with Chopin? I'll see if I can find the link for said book...

Okay found it...now $38.63. He's charging less for his lessons lately...

Now that's a great design!  You just need a caption like: "I'd sure like to sink my fangs into you!"  :)

And suck out your soul...

On different note. A totally hot Russian girl playing We Are The Champions on the piano. Talent and good looks wrapped up into one.
