Thanks for all the updates, Pete. I always enjoy the stuff on your site.
I had to laugh over the wording in the 1969 newspaper ad you posted about the repossession sale of the "Shelby Tudor."
Tudor? Was it a 1939 model? Did Henry Ford write that ad?
Thanks for all your work documenting details.
Good info pete. Wonder why 69 shelby had its unique shelby cobra warranty card & red plastic id card? I have seen several of these red cards over the years. Also note the small hole in rh upper corner of the temporary paper & the permanant plastic card both in the same loction. I reseached that years ago & if i remember correctly the holes were alignment holes to hold cards in correct position in the machine that prints & stamps the tags or something like that anyway. Also looked in the 69 assembly plant section & at bottom shows 69s in the aosmith lot & i always thought the # on white card under the rear view mirror was the last 4 #s of serial # s & i checked the photo car 1538 # & it is maroon vert black interior white top just like the car in the photo thats in the lot.
I think Phil has a warranty card copier machine?
You are likely correct Ed. I dont think you have to dig too deep to find warranty fraud by some of these dealers. One owner related to me he found warranty papers and the work specified was never done to his car! The papers even had his "signature"
