Hello I'm new to the site but my brother has been a member for far longer than I can remember , this car is white with blue stripes and my question is what are the little round red lights behind the scoops on the b post area, just curious what they were used for,I looked around online and can't find any info so far, any help in learning more about this car is greatly appreciated, thanks friends
Welcome to the Forum
If you type in "red marker lights" in the Search window, top right of page, plenty on the subject.
Cheers
Hi,
The red lights behind the scoops are believed to have been installed on a little less than the first 200 1967 Shelbys produced. These lights were functional and used in conjunction with brake and turn signal application. Some have mistakenly called these "Running Lights", but they only engage during the aforementioned scenarios.
Also, the reason that these lights were only installed on less than 200 cars...they were found to be illegal in some states (I don't believe it was a national law, but I could be wrong). At the time, only emergency vehicles were allowed to have head level red lights. Interesting, as now all cars have head level (or higher!) brake lights.
Hope this helps, and welcome! :D
BTW - I used to own car #0022 ;)
.I'm sure I'll have more questions for everybody on here , he also left me his 1969 gt500 428cj , it's Acapulco blue , I'll have questions on that also....glad to be part of the family, thanks for all the help :)
Dr. D:
I meet your brother in the fall of 2017 at Tom Cotter's event (sold him some parts) Very sorry to hear of his passing.
Hope you find good homes for his stable of Mustangs.
Yes, the upper scoop lights are often incorrectly referred to as Running Lights but they are Eye level brake and turn signals.

Sorry for your loss, your brother was a true enthusiast.

Sorry for your loss....On the flip side you are a very lucky man.Cars sound very interesting!Welcome!
By the way. The early cars have a following due to the "different from later built" cars features. So, get ready for those "I've never seen that" coments. Is a small sub-group of Shelby owners, we're all like brothers. Welcome.

Sorry for your loss as well. It's good that it stays within the family.
Sorry for your loss! This is a great community and you've come to the right place. How about posting some picts? Little car porn never hurt anybody ;)
Mr. Doolittle,
Sorry for the loss of your brother. 1967 Shelby GT350 #23 is now in my hands and part of my Ford stable.
If you run across any additional documentation, paperwork etc for the car I would greatly appreciate hearing from you.
Best wishes
Randy Marble
I have a picture(printout) of 0023 from a previous owner about 19 years ago, are talking same person then, I currently don't recall that owners name.
I would appreciate any pictures that you have. You can PM me for an email address.
