Title: Cobra CSX 2380
Post by: rolly11 on June 24, 2019, 10:07:22 PM
After 33 years of ownership I am finally able to start a complete restoration on 2380. The car was burnt in the mid 70s in a house fire and then parted out so I have a big challenge ahead of me. I  bought the car from a Bud Soper in 1986 who purchased the car in the 70s from a Bud Graham from Canton Ohio. I have been unsuccessful in locating Bud Graham who was the owner when the car was burnt.
Has anyone ever heard of a Bud Graham from Canton Ohio who owned a Cobra in the 70s ? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Sounds like a big resto job, but it will be worth it.  Thanks for doing all it takes to bring it back to life!

Yes I have heard of Bud Graham. I wasn't aware of a Cobra though. My dad would have know him, My dad has passed long ago. I would think if Bud would still be alive he would be well into his 90's. I believe that Bud had a "Speed Shop". I probably had been there but I can't recall for sure. I am from the Canton area and still live here. I know a few guys that are a bit older than Me but younger than my dad that might have more/better info on Bud.

Bud Graham Speed Equipment 4953 West Tuscarawas Street Canton Ohio. Later in the 70's the name changed to BUDCO.
Son? grandson? Rick Graham has photos on Pinterest. May want to start there. Good Luck.

I found Bud Graham that had the speed shop in Canton on the Net and tried to contact his son by e-mail and phone but had no luck. Is there anyone in the Canton area that can do a title search? The Ohio D.O.T. won't do it for the average Joe, you have to be licensed in Ohio as a private detective or a police officer. I would really like to see some pictures of the car before it was burnt and maybe after the fire before I bought it. Pictures coming soon.  Thanks

So have you been driving the car all these years or has it been undrivable all this time?

Cool bringing the car back....

The car is not drive able, there are many parts missing since the car was parted out after the house fire, so I am on the hunt for original parts to this car or any original 64 289 cobra parts. Since I  do not have the original engine could anyone give me the date codes of the engine block for a 289 Cobra invoiced on 4/02/64 ?  Thanks for all of the response

I forgot to mention that the motor I have is a early 63 block and although it has all of the correct HI PO parts inside it  does not have the big main caps or numbers stamped on the block. When I got the motor it had Webbers on it but unfortunately I sold them years ago.

Your car was sold to the dealer on 6/29/64, so it would have been built at SAI earlier that month. I would think a 289 Hi-Po with a date code no later than mid-May '64 could be deemed OK.
