66 Gt350  tag - I've never seen a C6ZX tag on a Mustang . Icant tell if that a stamped L  in the 3L50  . If its an L  its a traction lock with 3:50 ratio .  no L  is open carrier

'66 automatic diff 3.50 open . Common to Hertz cars. Built fourth week of Feb '66 at the Sterling Axle plant , so above serial 1,000 for sure. The tag number pertains to the "drum to drum " assembly and C6ZX designated an assembly with 2-1/2 wide metallic brakes specifically built for SAI. A "regular hi po Mustang would have a WCZ tag and 1-3/4 wide asbestos brakes.

I'm amazed! Thanks and the depth of knowledge from you and others here helps us all enjoy our great Shelby hobby!! By the way my good friend Gary Underwood maybe introduced you to me at a Cobra owners event at Willow Springs Raceway? Or at a Saac event and has relied on you for his transmissions?? I'm old enough now to not be always right on my memory; so sorry if I'm wrong! Thanks Jim with SFM6S1680

Thanks Jim.  Yes I do Gary's transmissions still . I have three in my shop at the moment as a matter of fact. Thanks for the kind words.

I'm honored to have driven the John McComb 33 Trans Am car at a SAAC event at Miller Motorsports Raceway and could this be your GT350 in the foreground??

  Doug ,
I'm just a regular guy that has been drag racing a Hertz car for over 45 years , won over $50,000 doing it and refuses to quit. I doubt there is an SAI produced vehicle with more drag strip passes than mine. It's not a gasser found in a barn though. LOL   THAT would make me famous .

I sign them but usually hear , "oh I thought you were someone famous" as they walk away. Luckily I don't have an ego problem.
