Title: Is there 2 types of 69 shelby hood moldings?
Post by: 68cobra427 on July 08, 2019, 02:54:27 PM
Type 1 has tabs without threads and uses clips.

Type 2 has longer tabs with threads for installing with nuts. Or is this style aftermarket like say Branda.

Is there only one original type or did ford produce 2?

One type was used on regular production cars. It had fold over tabs. sometimes but not always it was supplemented with double sided tape. The type with threads or other means to fasten down are after market. I have also seen some made out of aluminum instead of stainless steel which was factory.

If you can find the last reproduction hood molding out there It is an excellent reproduction. I bought one of the last 2 Tony Branda had many years ago and never installed my NOS one(had an aero issue with my original molding). Gary

Friend has I believe is a repo with studs that are held on by nuts. He is contacting Branda about it. He is going to put it up for sale.

Just wanted to find out if it was orig. We do not think it is.

Troy ,I thought I cleared this up in reply #1 ? In a attempt to try and make it clearer ,the originals did not have studs and nuts. If it does have studs and nuts then there is no doubt about it being a Repro. It is a repro.  FYI I am a concours judge for 69/70 Shelby's in case you were not aware so I have dealt with this issue many times before .
