66 1122 both ford and sa build 2/66. what is the correct motor mount? (I know what the ford parts book says) the car has the simpler 66 motor mounts on it, l&r the same, I put one on back in 1975, but don't remember what came off of it, can't find it. who has the best reproduction? anyone around my number with original mounts left? phred
Since we're sort of guessing when the car was completed at San Jose would expect that they were the 66 and up style - the simple ones with a lot less parts based on other unrestored Mustang and Shelby examples from around the first couple of months of the new calendar year

6S1078 has the simple ones as well.
Shelby build was also feb 66, sold 2/28/66. phred
Hi Phred, I expect you car got the LoPo standard motor mounts, but if you want to spend the big money for HiPo, go for it. Scott Drake sells a concours kit for $437.95 or you can find an original set, as much as $1500. I am happy to spend your money if you need the help.

That is a "safe" range because of the "random nature" the cars were built in.Possibly some in the 600's as well had later mounts. I have seen originals in the 600s and 700's with HiPo multi piece mounts. "I" haven't seen one in the 800's but some have been reported. "I" have suspected this was a "running change" by Ford , not a SAI request. I base that on some production K code ,'66 Mustangs with "lopo" mounts that I have seen "in the day". We could probably narrow it down by Ford vin.

Going by Ford VINs might be a little or accurate but even then the spread would be 5-7000 numbers but yes in the mid to late 700's I would think one would be safe to go with the later version if the car has been played with, restored, engine rebuilt/removed or something else that would make one think that the could have been changed out. Basically you don't know for certain that what you have is original and your making a choice at that point.
Part/engineering number on the mounts is a useful clue also - to confirm if they aren't original
Thanks Jeff, I remembered the discussion from forum 1.0
