Royce , I spoke to Ed two weeks ago. He said Jason Billups would be judging the cars and it will be open to any Ford Performance car.. Might make it very interesting to see what shows up..
Correct for concours pre-registration and acceptance. Jason succeeds John Brown as Head Judge.
I plan to be there.

Great show two days at Hallett road racing circuit, one day drag racing, one day car show. This is the 46th year!!! Please bring your early Shelby, since we do not have SAAC this year.
Do you think it's to late to convince the powers-that-be to break up the '65 - '70 Shelby Mustangs into more than a single show class this year?

+1. I was there last in 2010 (can't believe it's been 10 years already!). Had a great time, was in Tulsa for 4 days and did everything there was to do related to the show. Hoping to get back out there one of these years.
I find it interesting that the Tulsa Mid-America Ford & Shelby National meet could possibly be held this June 17-21. It appears like it may happen, with some changes, no doubt. I'm keeping a close eye on their website; certainly says "planned as scheduled". Check for yourself:

The multiple-day open track at Hallett Racing Circuit is located in the countryside west of Tulsa, with ample room for social distancing (the lunch café could be a challenge?). The drag strip provides plenty of space for social distancing (again concessions are a question). With proper planning and careful observation by people, the parts swap, as well as the Sunday car show could work out, as well. Even the Thursday evening downtown cruise event seems possible due to the outdoor nature. Of course, I would expect restaurants to have posted guidelines to follow.
I imagine any banquet or indoor social event just isn't happening. I personally don't see how concours judging can be conducted within social distancing, but who knows?
State and community mandated guidelines indicate that hotels are open for lodging. I'm not aware of travel restrictions.
Food for thought, huh? It is a great event!!
I have been out to Hallett a couple of times the last few weeks. The Finish Line Café is serving food. They are bringing it outside to you. No inside dinning as of right now.
Would have loved to been able to attend but I have a previous race scheduled for Mid-Ohio during this time.
If schedule provides I'll be there this year as well.

Sounds great Don but biggest hurdle for most of us is getting on a plane
Tim, I totally understand! It is convenient for me to drive, but after seeing news video of human behavior over this holiday weekend I am evaluating what is worth it and what is not.

I am about 2.5 hours farther then Don but given the same opinion on the news video as well as other factors ,I am in the process of deciding what makes the most sense for my family. It is painful contemplation.
...and please also take into consideration your advanced age

Yes, thanks for reminding me that I am now in that most susceptible age group ::) however more of a concern is that my wife takes medication which compromises her immune system. although she wasn't planning on going I have to be concerned of what (besides parts) I might bring back .
Oh geez is she still mad at you for that? I thought you got some penicillin for that?

Biting my tongue NOT to follow that one up with a "comment" ::)
Will be nice today :)
Understand on some of the pictures in the news. If you like road racing Hallett has some great areas to watch the action with out being on top of each other. For those that like running open track events, Hallett is a great track. Also a safe track. I'm getting my car ready to run.
Hope to see lots of people and cars there. There is also lots of room at the Drag strip and the Host hotel for the car show.
Contacts say that registration for this year's event is running close to a normal year!! WOW!! So, that means lots of track time for the road course, as well as the drag strip. It sounds like they are doing a great job of planning for contingencies and being creative so that it is a full, fun, multi-day event. Cruise night, plus a Route 66 poker run, and the show & shine. Lots going on.
They are continuing to update the webpage, so check it out:
https://musclecarevents.org
Event is continuing as planned and evolving for circumstances.

That's fantastic news! I might still be able to go.
Thanks for sharing!
Really too bad the Concours judging was scrapped, takes a lot off the table for people.
Mid America Ford and Shelby Nationals is this coming Thursday-Sunday. Two days at Hallett, one day at the drag strip and Sundays Show.
I was at Hallett today. They are practicing social distancing, a few people at a time in the lower level of the tower. Restaurant is up and running. Things were going very smoothly out there today. If you have never been, this would be a great year to come, since so much has been canceled. It is family friendly.
After having nearly every road race cancelled this year I'm looking forward to Mid-Ohio. Maybe I can do Tulsa in the future.

Agree with you Mike. Looking forward to next year, though.
What group/club and when are you getting to run at Mid Ohio?

What Dragstrip are they using ?
Just confirmed Rex Myers AM lightweight GT 40 will be coming to the tulsa show as we will be leaving Indiana early Thursday am and try to get the car in the lobby sometime Thursday afternoon (while everybody is at Hallett) before the downtown cruise if it all works out.

That's AWESOME have fun.
What Dragstrip are they using ? If you are talking about Mid America in Tulsa, its the Tulsa Raceway Park. East Side of Tulsa just off of Hwy 169. Supposed to be a very nice Drag strip.

Very cool. I was parked directly across the aisle at MCACN last year, so had a prime spot to admire it all weekend. It's a spectacular car.
Went to Hallett yesterday. Total washout. Raining hard the whole time I was there. Never saw the cars on the track, hopefully they went some time later.
You folks are gonna' be really busy there this weekend. Hope you wind up with some good weather.
We went home, the police and national guard have so many streets blocked off and patrols everywhere, very dangerous place to be now. Top bad.
That is downtown, not anywhere near the Shelby show which is at the drag strip today.
I predict downtown Tulsa might be a dangerous place for Antifa rioters and looters. Anyone else should be fine.

A powder keg of a situation... Best to avoid the area.
Safer in Tulsa than just about anywhere in CA, OR, WA, IL, or NY. Rioting and looting is never a welcome behavior and would be met with swift reprisal.
No safety worries at all (at hotel or race venues at least)
2 of the ultimate Ford powered cars were in hotel lobby though
And Rex & Tony (the owners) are both great guys to top it off!!

Those are beautiful vehicles! I'm in Chicago overnight.
So thankful Jim Wicks and the rest of the crew that puts Mid America on, Oklahoma and Tulsa that we where able to have Mid America this year with so many shows being canceled. I really enjoyed the show, getting to see old friends, making new friends and the cars. Great track day at Hallett Thursday, still had fun Friday at Hallett. Great weather Saturday for the drags and Sunday for the show. At least the whole world is not negative.
It's on my bucket list of shows to go to, this year daughters wedding (climbing up in less than 2 weeks), son giving us first grandchild (five weeks early), plus a root canal and a new tooth crown, made it not feasible
Maybe next year, sounds like a great time. Anyone have pictures ?
Didn't get very many pictures, but managed to take a few.

Cj750- Thanks for posting the Marriott Lobby pics. The Red BOSS 302 belongs to me and I would love to be able to print a high quality picture to frame. I sent you a PM with my email if you by chance could send me the original large file I'd be very grateful.
Thank you-
Mark:
Done. I hope you aren't too disappointed with the quality of the original file. The pics were the best I could manage with my old cell phone, but in the end it's only capable of so much resolution. Anyhow, absolutely stunning car. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing it. Thanks for having it there for everyone to enjoy.
Jay
Not at all Jay, appears the one you emailed is much better than the one I copied off this post. Thanks so much for taking the time to send it and for the kind words. Have a great 4th of July and hope to meet up at another event in the future.
