From my understanding, extra ordinary claims need to be backed up by extra ordinary evidence.  Opinions are just that and we must judge all vehicles by the same standard.  I definitely appreciate the wisdom of the folks on this site but we shouldn't deviate without the extra ordinary evidence.  If it is the original born with engine it is unfortunate that this "?" will always surround it.  It will also hurt its value IMO without the extra ordinary evidence of fact to prove it is.

Here is another thing I always wondered about is how does one prove what was typed was done by the actual typist? I could be typing this right now. Or my wife. Or one of my kids. Or someone hacked my account. How could a plaintiff prove that what was typed was actually done by the defendant? "my dog was loose and was hitting my keyboard"  ::)
 I ran into this situation 2 decades ago about a certain "prototype Shelby". We all in the know know what it is and I have had history with the car going back to the early 80s as have members here but when 1 person mentioned lawsuit on another forum at the time(SAAC forum didn't exist yet) I just dropped the car entirely and don't type about it at all.

First off, if you are man or woman enough to make the comment, be man or woman enough to say you did and own it.  Only a coward hides and my 2 cents, let the purchaser do the checking.  It is not your or my job to "police" the community because if you are wrong, yes we all can be :-)... you do open yourself up to liability.  I for one am not going to put the blame on my wife and kids and nor should anyone else to theirs.  If you hurt a seller who owns a 6 figure car with blasfemous comments, true or not, you could be paying an attorney bill well into the 6 figures which you will not get back even if you win.  Some of these guys have a lot of money and more than willing to just to pay attorneys and hurt you just because they can.  Be very careful.

Like most things there is a place for everything.  The Value that BJ brings is advertising/marketing and demand (the event) which in all fairness isn't cheap to do.  For the seller, it limits the amount of time folks have to nit pick a car to death and you don't have to deal with them. 

I will provide an example, my son purchased a motorcycle and left it in my garage for me to crawl over and push around as he is in the military.  He knew I was tired for moving the thing so he put it up for sale, I have lost count of the tire kickers, I even had one guy crawl under the thing and pick it TOO DEATH only to try to beat it down $500.  I left him setting in his car and I went in the house so he could calculate what every little doodad and scratch would cost to fix only for him to call my son and my son to say no thanks. 

At an auction house it is what it is and you either want it or you don't for which I can appreciate.  There is a cost for your sanity  ;D

   I have 2 shelbys in my shop, both are  66  fastback cars in the shop, customer suppled glass for both cars, there from a supplier i have used alot, the cars have original quarter panels and roof panels and the transition panel between the back glass,,,, The problem is the aftermarket glass is about 3/8 inch wider than the original  back glass [located  from a  local mustang guy,,,, The supplier as i said I have used and have a relationship with and they order these back glass 70 pieces at a time,,, no one had a concern reported to them about install concerns, i had my son run the glass back to them as there located here in Minnesota , along with the original and they are agreement with me that the new glass is not the same size,,,,, both cars are very close to the same opening size and flanges,,,,,
   so am I  installing it wrong ?
  Normal i start at the bottom of the glass and pull the cord over the lip, work my way up ,, i have installed probably 25 back glass ,  67 68 69 70 71,,, this is the first 66 glass , so am i doing it wrong,
  during the install ,  if I go up one side to the top and then go over to the other side , The glass and the rubber seal has climbed the flange and is against the quarter panel flange, were the trim clip ,clips into the pin ,,,, i have tryed this about 3 to 4 times and get the same result, any ideas,,,, 
 Should i start at the top were the glass is widest and go to the bottom? 
  appericate any help,,,, or recommendations of were to get another piece of glass,,,, Bob

I guess I'm confused with your post, you state clearly that the glass is not the same so that is your problem.  Other cars that used the glass and it worked my have had a lot of work done to them through the years which is why the repo glass works.  I would send it back so they can inform their supplier and then you locate another glass that fits.  What am I missing?

I watched some of the videos, since the car is pretty far from being original already it appeared the guy was going all in to make it what he wants.  Not my cup of tea but I really don't care as its not my car. 

As most know, it takes a considerable amount of effort and expense to identify, track down, purchase and restore correct parts which is obviously not his thing.  By his rude comments however, it also appears in his eyes, no one else can have an opinion unless you praise him for his efforts.  1523... get over it, just agree to disagree and do your thing instead acting like a spoiled child. 

What the SAAC and a lot of its members offer is incredible, the knowledge is tremendous but guess what, people have opinions and they might not agree with yours.  If you walk away it is your loss.

I would like you guys to think about this. 

This person obviously didn't know as much or a lot about the car, especially when compared to folks on here, I think we all agree on that.  That being obvious, why keep pounding the guy for answers that he doesn't have or won't give. 

I watched this auction and I saw legitimate, intelligent questions from you and I saw an owner that didn't know and was tired of being what he perceived as "picked on" so he got defensive. 

IMO, when you see this you have one of three options.  Stop commenting, get on a plane or hire a third party close to the car to go inspect it. If you are serious that is what you do, 2) Stop commenting, don't bid and find another car or 3) Keeping asking and picking and look like a ass. 

Bob, you stated you had a serious bidder, that being the case he needed to hire you or someone close to the car to go see it in person to answer the questions.  I understand not wanting to spend the cash but if he is serious that is what you do.  I think most of us have driven or flown crazy places to look at cars.  To keep hammering the guy and wanting answers that the guy wasn't going to provide is not productive and only looks bad on you in the end.
one poster posted  the history of BaT. do you know it? With that said many on BaT had been there since it started. It was a discussion about cars for sale.  Second if you think for any reason this guy was being badgered go look at the red on red 1970 LS6 Chevelle that was on  Bat https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1970-chevrolet-chevelle-ss-61/  . I follow many marques but as a long time Shelby owner I love other marques and the Shelby guys on this auction are tame from what I see on many brand X  cars out there on BaT. Like I said and continue to say is I'm tired of owners who know the "value" of their cars but don't know the important facts and that should go hand in hand. Am I wrong?  Gary

Gary, I understand and can appreciate where you are coming from but I learned a long time ago not everyone has the passion we, as Shelby enthusiasts have for these cars.  The same can probably be said for many other brands but I don't follow them :-). 

Even though you are tired of some owners not knowing or willing to know the in's and out of their cars it doesn't make it right to keep drilling for information that they obviously aren't willing to provide.  Let the auction run and either go see the car or let it go by. 

What I always try to remember is it is their car, they own it and can do what they want with it.  If they wanted educated about their car they would have done it long before the auction.  I'm not criticizing anyones feelings but continuing to beat a dead horse owner only looks bad on the beater and the horse gets the sympathy :-).
