Hi Brian,
I did not see you yesterday. Were you there. It was a good turnout.

Michael Briggs

No Michael, I never made it.  I had transportation issues and had to turn back after about 5 miles from my house that morning.  I had sorted through all my Ford/Shelby parts the week before an had packed up an SUV's worth, so it particularly sucked to find I had a screw in my tire's sidewall and it wouldn't hold air.  I'm really disappointed that I didn't get to see everyone but I heard from numerous people how great it turned out.  Thanks as always to Bill Baker for setting all this up and everyone else who had a part in it.  I guess I'll be posting a lot of this stuff here on the forum since I cleaned out my attic and really don't want to put all that stuff back, lol.

SAAC-48 / Question about Pete Brock’s key note talk

What night is Pete Brock’s talk?  Is it the Friday night dinner on the registration website?

Just a reminder:  This Saturday coming up (May 20th, 2023) SAAC Carolinas will be holding the famous Snakes and Planes Car Show at the Hickory Aviation Museum.  The  museum is open from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, and we'd like to get as many cars in and parked amongst the planes as early as possible, so plan to be there between 9:00-9:30am.  There are plenty of trailer parking spaces located in the airport parking lot for those who may need them.

If you have any questions, please just reach out to me.  Hope to see you next week!

Looking forward to a great event and thanks for letting us join in on the gathering!

Mark

Sounds great Mark, see you there!

It was so good, we are doing it again!  Yes, our spring event is happening at the Hickory Aviation Museum once again, but we are hopping to add a few changes and surprises this time.  I would suggest that anyone in the area that can come, does come to see the event.  The museum is awesome, and parking classic Ford/Shelby iron/fiberglas amongst the aircraft is pretty darn unique.

We are going to be adding a swap meet/parts for sale section for anyone who has the odd the part they want to sell and thinks one of our fellow members will benefit from it.  Please reach out to me with questions.

Lastly, there will be an indoor display of Shelby/Ford Memorabilia that is not to be missed.  If anyone has anything they would like to display, also reach out to me.  An email blast is soon to follow, so start waxing those Shelbys and get ready for a great time!

Parts For Sale / Freshly Rebuilt 289 HIPO Engine Dated 6K17 For Sale
« on: February 26, 2023, 11:27:02 PM »
I have a freshly rebuilt (zero hours) 289 HIPO engine for sale.   It was completely overhauled by John Callis, who has an excellent reputation as a top Ford classic engine builder.  He took over a hundred photos during the rebuild process.  It has a casting date of 6K17, and the heads are dated 6K27.  It is stamped 7F07K2752, but it's extremely faint and can only be seen when the paint is stripped off the engine block.

It has a brand new Holman Moody 289 HIPO factory spec Camshaft and Lifters installed.  The cylinders are .020 over.

It has a restored HIPO harmonic balancer C50E dated L6.    It also comes with a restored set of exhaust manifolds C30E-9431-B and C4ZE-9430-A respectively.  I have a nice set of early service replacement 'fanged' Cobra Valve Covers that will be included.  The Cobra intake is a brand new Blue Thunder replacement, and the carburetor is not included.

More information and pictures are available.

$15,000

Hi y'all --

I've been trying to find Woody for a couple of years and today remembered he had a GT350 so put in as part of my Google search which brought me here.  Almost wish it didn't.

Woody and I served in an Ohio Army National Guard armored cavalry regiment together before his job took him to NC.  During this time he sent the green painted GT350 back to some place in Pennsylvania to be restored using his Guard checks to pay for it.  He apparently used several gallons of engine oil when he brought the car out to Ohio from NJ and didn't risk driving it to PA for the work so it was picked up by a closed auto-carrier full of restored classic cars.

Just wanted to let you know Woody is missed outside of the Shelby world.

-- Chuck

No doubt Chuck.  I was thinking of Woody just the other day as I thought about something I wanted to share with him.  He truly loved life to the fullest. I really hope I see him again someday, only hopefully not too soon.

Is there any interest this year?  I'll help set it up, if we can get a few owners together.  Anyone who might be interested, reach out to me.
