Appeals / Re: Vacuum line beaded end type
« on: September 18, 2022, 07:17:43 AM »
Use flaring tool for “double flare” but only enough to form shape.

As shown in Ford service publications,RUG-E is a 2.78 1st gear (wide ratio ) are you getting your info from a Marti report? I call that “processed information” Not 100% factual.
Like the lit that shows 427 in Mustang. Never happened.
Would require many parts to become close ratio. So much incorrect info out there that keeps getting repeated.
Re-Peted ?  ;)

Trans tag ? Build sheet ? Then, use FORD shop manual ,or service spec book,to identify what Ford supplied. Ford decided if wide or close ratio, not customer.

Please be aware that the CORRECT vacuum advance for the J code 4 speed is not the same as CJ . The J code is marked A12 while CJ ( 68-69 428  speed )is marked HP6. They LOOK similar, but are not the same. 1968 version of the A12 uses the brass threaded fitting on the advance side.

He has been doing that for years. Put a hold on payment ASAP and file claim thru Ebay. Be sure to jump through all the “hoops” to get you money back. Good luck! Ebay has become a whorehouse

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Re: 289 valve stem seals
« on: September 29, 2019, 07:36:49 PM »
Only my 2 cents, but most every collector car rebuild will not see many miles of use. The stock “umbrella” style seals satisfied millions of applications for billions of miles ( check my math ) I realize some just like to spend money at the machine shop to get a bill that proves something, but in reality ,the engineers back then had 50 K warranty to contend with and properly designed those to meet most street applications. You can try to re-engineer this area ,but for what reason? Those PC style seals are not fool-proof.I just replaced a set on my EZGO golf cart......

The Lounge / Re: Opening lines to The Dragon's Toll
« on: September 29, 2019, 07:00:56 PM »
We had been actively searching for property in Tenn and around the Dragon’s Tail ,129 area.....after a few days of research most advice I got was to avoid 129 as it becomes VERY busy from spring through fall. Many sirens responding to motorcycle crashes by out-of-towners thinking they are really good riders. No trophies given,or even white crosses...very nice area AWAY from 129. I stayed here,in Indiana and never regretted it.

1968 Shelby GT350/500/500KR / Re: KR steering column rebuild
« on: September 22, 2019, 12:08:40 PM »
Your problem is not within the steering column. What you feel is the RESULT of some other issue. Find a good tire shop that really wants to help. Most just want to do a fast balance and not spend the time to get to root cause. Balance is not the only cause of vibration. Wheel and/or tire runout need to be considered. Some bigger shops can check “road force” balance and are most likely to have the people and equipment.
