Up two, John Paradise, don't forget his '68 Shelby, The Warlord. I was too young to have had any dealings with him, but from what I have heard, maybe it was for the best.

The passing of someone who had a lot of enthusiasm for the early GT350's and history of everything Shelby American is always a tough thing to go through.
On the other side of this loss is that perhaps Hans found some peace knowing a friend of his would take care of his GT350 and also drive it whenever possible. The car is alive, well, and looking great as someone can post the latest cover of The Shelby American. It was good to see the car land in the hands of someone who knew Hans and will continue to keep Hans' feelings for the car strong into the future. It is for this reason, it was nice to see it not end up with someone who would just flip the car for a profit.

Great photo Dave, did Eric English take it?  You are spinning that motor pretty close to redline. Bet Gary Lewis moved that needle further over in 1966 than where you are at now. I don't see any purple and no Dawgs on the side of the road.

Yes, from 1963 as its the Cobras in the 3 Championship poster, photo used in the poster was taken at Kent, Wa. In the photo above #98 was Miles', #97 McDonald's maybe that is him 7th from the left, but not sure, #99 was driven by Holbert. Some of the other people may have worked at the ......r Co. dealership? where the cars were being serviced before their next race? Pure guesses.

That's a cool photo of the three Cobras I have not seen before, from 1963? Left to right Al Dowd, Ken Miles, 5th from the right looking down, mechanic Jack Hoare ?

When I was a finishing up Junior year in high school I purchased my first BOSS 302.  I would search for articles on the BOSS 302 written in 1970 to see how the car was received by the press. In an article by Car and Driver they took an essentially stock BOSS 302 and put race rubber with different rims and from this photo side exhausts and went to road race it. The title of the article was something like "The Flagman Says Car's Number 9's Stereo Is Too Loud" . It made me feel a little better they were a capable car, I just couldn't afford a first generation GT350. From memory this may be the car from this article ? Never knew it got bumped in the race, interesting photo.

Shelby American Racing / Re: 1965 Bridgehampton 500
« on: November 25, 2023, 01:12:12 AM »
A better race for Shelby American fans would have been the 1964 Bridgehampton Double 500 race as Carroll Shelby packed ten 289 Cobras in 28 car field in the quest to gather the World Manufacture points towards the Championship. Ferrari never showed up since Enzo had already cancelled the Monza race so Shelby American would have to wait until 1965. There is a You Tube video of the 1964 race but it was a 16mm film put on by the Hansgen family.  For the time period, its hard to beat the quality of this 1965 film.

Unfortunately, Ken Young missed his first convention at SAAC 48, I was hoping to see him there.

I was there, below Neale was probably Alan Mann , they were all lined up at a table and you just went down the line one signer after the other. I think the
other comments on this thread were all correct.  Mark

It didn't it a rock, it hit a bolder, one of the many reasons I would never buy a car from an auction, unless I knew the real history behind the car.
