I think it worked. That was different from what I'm used to. Thanks Roy

Thanks for posting the additional photos. Especially the view from the rear showing a better profile of the rear flares and the dash. Those two (for me) confirm in my mind what I vividly remember about 5S465. Also the slender Asian guy in two of the photos looks like Tim, black hair, light shirt and dark trousers in front of the car.
I'm actually heading to the SF Bay Area later this month again. I'll show them to Tim and see if he recognizes himself. (I would be able to if someone showed me a pic of myself even if it was 47 years ago).
Anyway, the last time I meet with Tim was 2 years ago (time flies). Way back when in the mid 70's he was an art student at CCAC (California College of Arts & Crafts) he drove 5S465. He showed me a proposed SAAC membership certificate he sent to Rick Kopec (Rick rejected it) he told me.
If anyone would remember Rick Kopec would (mind of a steel trap). I don't know if he showed it to Howard Pardee or Ken Eber. If anybody saw it, it would have been those three.
I took a pic of it in Tim's album he showed me. See pic

Parts For Sale / Re: American Safety Seat Belt
March 16, 2024, 08:40:54 PM
Hello All,

Not trying to hijack this thread. I have a pair of these American Safety lap belts with the complete labels and end clips but no mounting eyelets. (*edited for requests on prior note). The pic of the OP's tag (damaged) is identical to the pair I have (see attached) interestingly enough it reads IMPACT on the other side.

Wanted to Buy / Re: Cobra air cleaner lid
March 13, 2024, 09:28:04 PM
Hello Mike and Bob G,

I went digging around my shop and came across this Cobra Lid and base. Bob mentioned sand cast. I looked at what I have. (I thought it was/is a reproduction. Still might be). Does this look sand cast?
If you want it $75.00 plus shipping. If you tell me it's the real deal then the price jumps to $750.00 lol. Just kidding
$75.00 it's yours.

Shelby American Racing / Re: Group II Mustang - Race
February 29, 2024, 02:48:07 PM
No, there are no tags on the Group I & II notchbacks. There is detailed information on these cars in the SAAC Registry 2011 Edition 1965-1966-1967 pages 1234 to 1250.
Answering the OP's original question of how many 1966 Group II notchbacks were built. 16

The Lounge / Re: Phil Schmidt PS Engineering
February 14, 2024, 07:05:17 PM
I too have heard Phil retired. It's my understanding that Vintage Wheel Works bought out his business. Also heard that the molds to highly desirable TA wheels for casting were broken (either accidentally or intentionally is unknown).
Vintage Engineering out of Redwood City in California does an identical wheel to the TA wheel in magnesium. Unfortunately not in an aluminum alloy.

Hard to say if it were a California Special which are coupes. That to me looks like a convertible.
If there were anyone who might know that would be Jeff Speegle. This is his stomping grounds. He would know most Shelby related cars in the area, I would believe.

I just saw this on my news feed. A garage of a home east of Sacramento (Citrus Heights) went up in flames. In the pic I can see what looks like a red 67 Shelby convertible amount other cars according to CBS news. Sad

If I'm not mistaken that's a Bill Maier Racing "triple gated" pan from the late 1970's.
