SAAC-49 / Attending My First SAAC Event SAAC-49
April 03, 2024, 05:12:04 PM
G'day to my Shelby American brothers, this will be the first SAAC event, so I can't wait. What can I expect because I'm hoping to see a few 289 & 427 Cobras. It's very rare to see a genuine Cobra here in Australia, as a matter of fact, I've only seen one real Cobra in person & that was CSX2105 before it returned to the USA. I'm hoping to meet people like Rick Kopec, Howard Pardee, Ned Scudder, Jeff Burgy, Greg Kolasa, Jay Talbott, David Mathews, Vince Liska etc, etc. I also hope to network with some gents who might want to sell their SAAC magazines from the 70's & 80's. Anyway, I look forward to meeting some of you, cheers.

(I'm also hoping you Yankee's bring as many GT350's & GT500's as you can to this event, a GT40 wouldn't go astray ;D).

G'day there to all my Shelby American, brothers. A big thank you to SAAC, I was able to register for the event & book accommodation at the Holiday Day Inn Express, Vineland. This will be my first SAAC event so I'm really looking forward to the convention. I look forward to meeting some of you, kind regards Ben.

Hi Bob, thank you for the feedback, cheers.

A friend sent photos of a T-Bar shifter with Cobra Logo. However, I'm unable to identify the year of the shifter because the cobra appears to be 68, 69, 70 but the shift base appears to be 64. Could the shifter be out of a Shelby, Mustang or Torino Cobra Jet or other type of Ford? I'd appreciate anyone's input, thank you.

Hi Roy, thanks for the link, I'll let my friend know about the site, cheers.

Hi Mike, thanks for the picture of the dash. I'm asking the question for a friend who's building a roaring forties GT40, he hasn't stipulated street or race dash. He is currently undecided but would like more detail of both dash boards. Thank you for your help, cheers.

GT40 - Original/Mk V / GT40 Dash Photos - Order of Gauges
November 14, 2022, 02:06:35 PM
I've been able to locate some photos of the GT40 dash from this forum from P/1013 & P/1033 however I can't depict all gauges. Does anyone have any close-up photos of dash gauges & the order in which they are fitted to the dash? Thanks for any help, cheers.

G'day fellas, I understand this question may have been discussed a thousand times but here we go. The cause of the bow in the NACA hoods, is it from poor quality with production, wrong jig, bad fibre glass or pressure from the hood springs pushing forward onto the hood pins causing the hood to bow or is it heat from the engine bay etc etc etc or does all the above apply? I'd like to know & there may not be one answer, your knowledge & information will be appreciated, thank you.
I can sense your frustration. Any one of those things or a combination could be the cause of the bow but probably not all on the same hood. There are things that you can do to strengthen the hood but that requires surgery to the structure. There are a number of things you can do to address the symptoms . Some hoods never have a problem.

Thanks Bob, your experience & wealth of knowledge is greatly appreciated. Its good to hear there may have been a numbering of contributing factors to why some hoods may have bowed whilst others didn't, cheers.

^^ Back-up lights look like they have red lenses?

Hi JD, yes its a government requirement for indicators that's why they're amber. My home state of NSW has the 3rd strictest road rules in the world, cheers.
