WTB:
Correct electrical junction block used on 1968 GT 500KR. (mounts on the inner fender)
I believe the original design used a Bakelite material. (Very fragile stuff)
(my original is split at one of the mounting holes)
I’m searching for a correct junction block for my restoration.
Any information is appreciated.
Thank you
Fran

Added a photo of my original (split)

I’m looking for sources for a console lid latch.
My console is missing the latch that attaches to base.
Looking for guidance on what is missing, and any leads on part sources.
Attached are 2 photos that show the lid with latch, and the base that is missing mating part.

Any assistance is appreciated.

1968 Shelby GT350/500/500KR / Interior Door Handle: restoration question
« on: December 04, 2022, 02:06:32 PM »
Thoughts on rechroming originals Vs going the aftermarket path.

I was inspecting my original handles today, in preparation for taking a batch of parts off to the chrome shop. My handles are beyond just doing a good polish..
I realized there is a roll pin that needs to come out. Best way to do that without damaging the handle is to carefully drill it out using an end mill. Then get the 2 parts chromed and reassemble with a new roll pin.

It’s a little bit of extra work, and cost to have them rechromed.
Worth the effort, or are the best reproductions that good, or just a “semi-decent” copies?

Thank you
Fran

1968 Shelby GT350/500/500KR / Front Bumper Bracket, function of welded tab?
« on: November 12, 2022, 02:40:39 PM »
tubular bumper bracket question:
The service replacement brackets have small tabs welded about 4 inches from the end (see photo)
I don’t recall these being on the production line bumper brackets. right?

What is the purpose of these “tabs”?
Thank you.

Wanted to Buy / 1968 Shelby GT500KR, 428CJ Fender Emblem NOS (2)
« on: November 09, 2022, 06:35:51 AM »
Wanted: S8MS 16098-G,  1968 Shelby 428 CobraJet Fender Emblem. Qty 2.
NOS very good condition.

Acsco directly sourced, will also be considered, if colors are correct.
It is my understanding that Acsco did much, if not all of the emblem and trim design & manufacturing for the later years.

Thank you.

Searching for an NOS later production (smooth side marker panel).
Red Oxide is preferred.

I’m getting ready to send out my drive shaft for restoration.
    -  Replace the tube & restore what I believe to be the original u-joints.

Did Ford typically install the balance weights at a certain distance from the ends?
    - I included photos of my crusty drive shaft assy.
        - Shows 2 weights at the yoke end, and then 1 weight at the rear end u-joint.

There are still small amounts of the original paint markings.  (Orange, violet)
Originally appears to be correct, based on my knowledge.

Thoughts/Comments appreciated.
Thanks
Fran

Interested in understanding production line paint markings.

I observed many markings on the rear housing after doing a basic clean and external inspection of the assy from my car.
Is there a general understanding of what job aid, or production line process step these refer to ?

The center section has the typical orange and yellow paint color markings. (photo attached)

The axle housing has:
 - blue paint lines at the brake line junction block and axle vent hose coupling (photo attached)
 - yellow wide paint marking on the passenger side, by the brake backing plate (photo attached)
 - yellow “X” paint marking where the 2 brakes lines meet. (photo attached)
 - light yellow paint marking at the drivers side end, near the brake baking plate. (photo attached)
 - white marking on the center section rear of housing. I’m not sure if that is a number? (photo attached)
 - orange paint marking (line) near the brake junction block. (photo attached)

Sorry, I can only attach 4 photos.
Others available on request.

I’d be interested to hear from folks that can explain these.
I’m guessing that these are typical of what is found on other rear axle housing assemblies.
Thank you!

1968 Shelby GT350/500/500KR / Smog Pump Marking, GT500KR
« on: June 08, 2022, 09:38:17 PM »
Date  8 G 11 1 (July 11th 1st shift)
There are two paint markings on my pump.
(Blue and Orange?
The blue paint mark looks more like overspray.
The orange (or similar color) is more like a brush on mark across the Mfg stamping date.

I believe this pump is original to the car.
I want to put these markings back on the unit as part of the restoration.
Are these markings consistent with late July built cars?

Thank you

Fran
