Living just 10 miles from the race track i have always been on the look out for items from the track and Trophys from the 50 s and 60s .

This has turned into a rabbit hole of epic proportions.

The Lounge / "Cale" Yarborough checkered flag
December 31, 2023, 10:24:29 AM
William Caleb "Cale" Yarborough[3] (March 27, 1939 - December 31, 2023) was an American former NASCAR Winston Cup Series driver and owner, businessman, and farmer. He is one of only two drivers in NASCAR history to win three consecutive championships, winning in 1976, 1977, and 1978. He was one of the preeminent stock car drivers from the 1960s to the 1980s and also competed in IndyCar events. His fame was such that a special model of the Mercury Cyclone Spoiler II was named after him

The Lounge / vintage shelby or modern shelby long term?
December 19, 2023, 09:23:20 PM
Both cars are very popular  but who has the staying power ?

I claim vintage  for  one main reason / parts are available to keep them going .

The electronics will be the thorn in the side of these new cars  .

If you don't know Ford stops maintaining inventory on cars over 10 years old .

what these means is if you need a body control module / alarm  for a car from 2009  there may not be any to be had . without  this module the car will not run.  same goes for power train control modules /  instrument clusters / smart fuse boxes/ and on and on .
any one  of these will keep car from functioning.

electronic will and can fail  even if new  in the box on the shelf
they still get old even if they are nos in the box!

The Lounge / Starting to lay out new work shop
December 12, 2023, 08:56:34 PM
What size shop are you working in ?  And yes   the biggest possible is the correct answer  .

I have marked out a 30 x 50  footprint   with a 14  ft height
gives me enough room for a  couple of  lifts  and work shop with machine shop . store some cars  and have a few in process

Whats everyone  working with?
