Up For Auction / 1966 Shelby GT350 SFM6S852
August 01, 2023, 07:34:28 PM
This 1966 Shelby GT 350 is the last of my late friend Bill's collection. I'm honored to be presenting it through Bring a Trailer and it will be on line at any time now. nearly a time capsule with fantastic history in Southern California. A California black and gold plate Shelby. Ford vin matching engine and Chassis .
Garaged indoor for years in Pasadena. Engine and transmission just went through a refresh. There is many in our community here that know more about these that I and always appreciate thoughts and suggestions as I'm selling this for my late friend Bill. I will post the link as soon as it comes up it's supposed to run at any time. This is a car for the stickler that is looking for originality..  Thanks, Jim.  I just found out from BAT that it is scheduled to go live at 5 PM today Pacific daylight time..

This Shelby was never supposed to be sold per the dealer that ordered it for himself in 1969. One of his best fleet buyers saw it and wanted to buy it. Was turned down until the He
Offered to purchase a fleet of 15 Ford trucks if he would sell him the Shelby .the deal was made , soon after that he moved to Palmdale near Palm Springs and took it to Palm Springs car shows. My late friend Bill fell in love with it and tried to buy it for 11 years . Finally convinced the original owner to let him buy it . Miles were in the 38k range, now with only 46k miles it's still stunning. A dry desert car, no seen rust or collisions , vin stamped on the back of the block " 1542 ". Was dark jade and now Wimbledon white because hot desert sun made it cooler for the hot days there . Should be starting on bring a trailer later today.

Finally this beautiful Shelby is supposed to start on Bring-A-Trailer later today, she's only got 46k miles and even has the original 8 track tape deck . Thoughts, questions always welcomed . My late friend Bill Wilson was in Palmdale California and tried 11 years to purchase it from the original owner until finally he made it his. We met up here in Idaho about 10 years ago and it was a joy to see this will kept Shelby . It was his pride and joy.. . I'm honored to be assisting his estate .  From what I see, there's never been any collisions or rust damage, and the Vin at the back of the block matches the Vin on the chassis..

My good friend Bill just had his numbers matching engine " professionally?" Rebuilt by a company in California! $10,500 later plus r&r cost  it's smoking on acceleration not as much on deceleration has been Fowling 4 to 5 plugs and it's gone a quart low !! They ran it on their Dyno and did a break-in procedure! He is up here in Idaho with me and now having this engine in his shelby ;  he's looking for help!!  I'm thinking they misaligned the rings or during the break in procedure on the Dyno something was damaged but your opinions are very needed here !  We have not checked the compression but it cranks over evenly with each stroke and it runs With acceptable power ! Changed oil twice with recommended oil and two sets of spark plugs and they are still fowling with oil on them!?

After almost 23 years of this Shelby's  ownership the agreement at home is to look for the right venue or publication to list my very original California black and gold plated Shelby ; I've been watching our community also BAT or one of the big auctions ; and just word of mouth with the wonderful Shelby enthusiasts I've met ; this is a heart felt question for my fellow enthusiasts and their experiences here ; thanks everyone

I remember going to college in 68 the CHP would set up cones to block the road and direct cars into a tailpipe sniffer for emissions! In my owners manual I read that Shelby got the 427 cobra and the GT350 " exempt " from California emissions! There's an unrestored green 66 on BAT" that still has the passenger side lower windshield with its " exempt " sticker still!! I was  fortunate enough to find the exempt " sticker still on my car when I bought it in 97 ! Does anybody else have one and was it just 1966 or was it later years as well ( the orange one found on my windshield and the blue is what you got after you were inspected)

July 04, 2019, 08:05:02 PM
My brother David has 6S898 and the exhaust system that was installed on it is substandard; He had a conversation with a SASC representative that his car could have come with sides exhaust like the 65's!? is that true or would that be correct for 6S898 ( over rider traction bar car ) February build?

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Engine coil placements
June 26, 2019, 12:31:26 PM
Back in 97 when I purchased 1680 the engine had never been removed as it had only 36k miles true odo reading; I found my coil on the drivers side; most pictures of nicely restored 66 Shelby's shows them on the passenger side? Did they come both ways?
