The first 130 Shelbys have the headlight buckets mounted using bands around the circumference of the bucket.  Each band is held on by two bolts each.  The question: what marking is on the bolt heads?
Blank? three slashes? "Rockford"? or "Dorman"?
These buckets during the early assembly were installed at Shelby American, not at the San Jose assembly plant.  In conversation with some other owners, they have some "Rockford" headed bolts on these bands.  Way back then, many parts stored had a rack of "Dorman" bolts in drawers.
Sorry, my car #0036, I mistakenly bought bolts at Ace hardware.  These are very like Chinese and they gotta go!
My newest AMK catalog, (2014) does not show either of the Rockford or the Dorman headed bolts.  Would S/A have called a local auto parts store for a supply.  As in "we need these today"?
Likewise, the four bolts that hold the grill to the support bar.  What would the head markings be?

Looking for a pair of rear backing plates that will work on a 10 X 2 1/2 rear brake conversion.  Include price in reply, and where they are.
Looking for a pair of 66 date coded (June/July/August) usable hipo heads.  Be prepared to answer any questions.
  Thank you.

I've have a set of Konis that I removed from my 67 GT 350 years ago.  I do not remember where the setting was, so, before I mess something up I want to know if there is a way to tell when to stop turning the shock while setting the stiffness.
  Thanks

Recall that post from back in August of this year about cams for a 428?
Just last Saturday I received the special ground hydraulic roller camshaft for my 428 CJ build.  It is going into my 67 Tribute car.
I used Brent Lykins motorsports to order the cam.  He must have ordered it through Competition cams as that is the box it came in.  Street grind with hydraulic roller lifters.
Ordered it back in August.  And it seems there were no cam "blanks" to be had.  This is why the extra time was required.  Happy building is about to start.

October 26, 2022, 05:44:26 PM
I'm a little surprised this hasn't been posted already.
This year's MCACN will feature a invitational Shelby display of 6 out of the 10 built 65 GT 350's known as the "Prototype Street Cars" according to MCACN's pre-event magazine. Car #10 and #13 will be displayed along with 4 other 65 Shelby prototypes.
Chuck Cantwell is also to be at the display.

More information can be found at www.MCACN.com

Ran into this a few weeks back.  If you have received a Melling 57HV (big block Ford FE 352-390-406-427-428) oil pump, look at the plug that holds the pressure relief parts in.  IF it has a hole in the end, that hole will suck air in.  It is a defective oil pump.  I got this from a posting on the Ford FE forum.
The good plug is blank - NO hole.

The pump I returned to Rock Auto had this hole and had a date code of July 2022, the box stated "made in Mexico".

Melling did not give me any date range of defective pumps.

Just posting this so if you are having issues, look there first.  Luckily for me, I was not past the part where this would have been inside the engine already.
By the way, this pump at this time has been dropped off the list of available pumps at Rock Auto.  Good move eh?

  Check out the photos.
I bought this shifter handle a few years back to install on my tribute car.  But, the handle you depress is not there, and, if you look at the photo of the Ford shifter, the Fomoco piece is not going to fit inside the new cool handle.
So, is there an additional piece I can buy?  Any help is appreciated.

Note: Unlike like my camshaft question a month ago, lets keep this "ON TOPIC" please.

I'll ask here before looking elsewhere:  Anyone know if a fuel injection type carb will fit inside our favorite "Cobra" Paxton carb box without a pile of cutting and welding?

SAAC Forum Discussion Area / 428 Camshaft selection
July 22, 2022, 07:33:47 PM
  7/22/2020
Within a month or so I will be building a 428 for my tribute car.  The question is, what cam to order?
the criteria:
428 CJ block.  Stock stroke Scat crank, H beam rods, Trick Flow aluminum heads, Harlan sharp roller rocker are shafts. Forged 10:1 pistons
Single 4 bbl Fuel injection carb.  This does not have to be the fastest car in town. Smooth idle desired.  The car has power brakes so vacuum to run that.  Likely 3:50 or 3:77 rear gears with automatic trans.
The easy thing would be to run the 67 GT 390 cam like Tasca Ford used back then, BUT, I'd like to use a roller cam.
So, any advice will be welcome.  Thanks

Parts For Sale / 67/68 A/C outlet adjusters
June 02, 2022, 02:34:37 PM
The story: My 67 GTA was sitting out dead in western Oklahoma for more than 30 years.  Mice ate into the headliner, seats, carpeting, and both these AC outlet air adjusters.  OK, looked into a Nationally known Mustang parts catalog for these easily replaced rubberish disks.  None to be found.
Yep, you can buy the entire outlets for more than $200 for each side.
well, my Purdue engineering grad nephew has the solution: 3-D printer!
As you see in the photo, the mouse eaten pair, and the new printed ones.  Need a set?  PM me for the address etc.
    $40.00 a pair

Like it says, if you want to sell them, PM me.  I will pick them up at SAAC 47 -Indy.
Bare, used, just not cracked or otherwise useless.  Thanks, Rod T

SAAC-47 / T-shirt artwork
May 19, 2022, 11:23:55 AM
Just wondering, what is the design on the T-shirt this convention?

First off, great job.  Next week they'll be asking about when the 2032 registry will arrive, watch.

  Questions:
1) On page 18 I've never noticed or heard of this before about the door window upper seal.  Does anyone (Jeff?) have photos of what this is talking about? I'd like to see it.
2) Noticed more than a couple of cars where the text states "not built with tinted glass".  Is this just the rear fastback glass, or all of the glass?  Curious about this.

There might be more questions coming but that is all for now.
