1967 Shelby GT350/500 / 67 GT350 Upper Clutch Rod
October 31, 2021, 09:06:04 PM
Found a good example of what happens when you skip the plastic bushings.  Luckily the other connecting points were less worn and ok to re-assemble with bushings.

Looking for advice on replacing this.
-Is C7ZZ-7521-E the correct part number for the upper clutch rod on a 67 small block and GT350?  Found the part number on the Coral Snake site for 68 GT350, but saw a post somewhere else that 67 and 68 might be different.
-I can't find any 67 small block upper clutch rods used or NOS, but see tons of postings for 69/70 rods that look the same, often labelled C9ZZ-7521-C.  Both are 12.5in between pivot points.  Would these work?  Look appropriate for my car?  I'm wondering if it is possible since there is no number on the part that every time someone finds one to sell they assume it is the C9 version?

The Assembly and Shop manuals list the part 7A516, which hasn't lead me anywhere.

Any advice appreciated.  I just don't want the shiny repros.  My car is #2246, May 1 Ford date.  Not a concours show car, but I do my best to get it right whenever I touch something.

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Nice Heel-Toe Mod
November 25, 2020, 07:05:37 PM
Just took this out of 67 GT350 #2246.  Bracket was '71 dated service part, but no idea when it was actually installed.  They welded in a large diameter piece of tube and went grinding on the brake pedal until everything lined up right.  Put the brake pedal dead on with the gas.  Worked fine but just couldn't get used to the brake pedal starting so low, so I have an original pedal set I'm cleaning up and putting in.

Picture of original set added just for quick comparison.

building a 67 GT500 tribute and buying all new wiring harnesses.  For the front headlights, can anyone answer do you need the 67 with Tach, with foglamps... or the 67 with Tach, without fog lamps?  Or does it even matter?

Sorry, should be able to figure this out, but haven't yet and about to order all wiring.  Any help appreciated.

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / 67 GT350 Cooling Questions
September 25, 2018, 02:37:05 PM
Hi All... A couple quick questions while I have the radiator out to flush and install better drain plug.

1) Were the radiators painted semi-gloss black, similar to the engine bay?
Radiator repair shops seem to favor a high gloss black and I just wanted to make sure I repaint correctly before putting back in.  Will add... mine is an older repro, not original FoMoCo.  20in, 2 core, has similar style tie rod and cools great, so figured worth at least maintaining until I find an original some day.

2) Are the correct hoses the stapled wire style clamp ones like pictured from VCM?
If yes, I'll swap out before putting back together.

3) Did they come originally with a spring in the bottom hose?  Or is that something people started doing later to keep the hose from collapsing?

Any help appreciated.

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / P/S Cooling
January 21, 2018, 11:55:15 PM
Hi All.  My 67 GT350 does not have the cooling loop on the power steering.  I thought all 67 GT350s and GT500s came with this.  I looked up the part # in SAAC registry and bought the cooler (P/N C6AZ-3D746-A, this one stamped C5AA-3D746C).

1) Am I correct that all 67s had this power steering cooler?  Or is it possible this was an option mine did not have from Shelby?

2) Assuming I should have it, any suggestions where to track down the additional hoses needed to install the cooling loop?

Thanks,

John
