I heard a rumor that Hagerty was leaving the Ca. market?  Has anyone else heard anything?
It wouldn't surprise me. Ins companies are massively bailing out of Ca.

The Cars and Coffee show in Thousand Oaks Ca has turned into quite the event over the last 6 months

Lately a couple real Cobras have showed up  and during one event 4 65 -66 GT350s showed up completely unplanned. On Sept 3 the organizers are going to highlight original Shelby products with a designated area featuring authentic Shelby American / Automotive products mfd in the 60s.

Wasn't as fun as the national convention but it was pretty cool to see 3 66s and a 65 show up for the local car show.

While reading the story about 5S003 in my annual I saw where the car was returned to
knockdown condition (which I thought was a very cool idea). Anyways my question is why would these cars be delivered to Venice / LAX with the 289 and Mustang emblems on the front fenders?

I understand these cars had to move off the line under their own power, thus the stock manifolds, intake, etc but why were the emblems left on? Perhaps an oversight by Mr. Cantwell when he visited San Jose or maybe later cars were delivered without the side emblems?

Thank you

Wanted to Buy / AE England Pontiac license plate frame
January 04, 2021, 10:19:51 PM
My friend is looking for an AE England Pontiac license plate frame. AE England was out of So. Cal back in the day.
He currently owns a 68 GTO which his dad bought new. This hunt is proving harder than I anticipated thus here I am on the SAAC forum.

Thanks.

1965 GT350/R-Model / R model ?
April 16, 2020, 12:35:31 AM
Did the last batch of R models have 66 Ford vins?  I've read before that these had 66 Mustang grilles. Did the very end of 65 San Jose production use 66 Mustang grilles?

I was always under the assumption that the only 66 350s with 65 Ford vins were carryovers.

January 02, 2020, 10:07:26 AM
Are all the 2019 end of year annuals shipped?  If so, I never received mine.  My address is current.  Who should I contact?  Thanks

During a straight shot drive from St. Louis to So. Cal I was thinking about how much money some people are guessing the Bullitt car is going to bring (I guessed around 1.1 mil to 1.4)  which got me thinking about Morrisons 500 (assuming it was ever found and verified of course)

What car would you rather have?   I would take the GT500 all day.  Obviously the Bullitt is cool and perhaps the most famous Mustang ever and Steve McQueen is uh.......Steve McQueen (no need to say more) but I would choose the 500 because it is a Shelby and it too was owned by a very interesting individual whose music I really like.

Lets keep perceived value out of the equation (yes I would trade my beloved 66 for a Dusenburg (or is it berg) and buy a whole lot more Shelby American vehicles with the money.   Just keep it to what car would you rather have and have to KEEP in your garage.

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / 66 Keys
August 29, 2019, 10:32:01 PM
I've done a search and am still and am still unsure as to what the original keys should look like. Could anyone post a pic or a link of some original keys or even some correct looking new ones. We're their 2 different styles maybe?

Thanks

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Trying to save 1117
November 11, 2018, 08:37:29 AM
A couple mornings ago around 110am.

Just had to stop and take a pic. Hopefully this opportunity won't present itself again
(Although I know eventually it will).   Obviously I was in the process of moving it to
a safer location.

For you experts out there, what color should the underside of my hood be?  Original red, 6s1117

The car is 95% (if not more) original paint. At SAAC 43 a very well known enthusiast was looking at it and believed all hoods should be black underneath (he also reminded me though to never say never).

Anyways while browsing the forum and looking at the recent pictures of 6s1020 (also red) I see that the underside of that hood is also red.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

SAAC Forum Discussion Area / West Valley Instruments?
August 26, 2018, 02:08:08 AM
Has anyone ever used West Valley Instruments (LA Area) for any service?  I am aware of the facility in North Hollywood as well but can't go there during the work week (Mon - Sat).

Near the end of my 1000 mile round trip to SAAC 43 the tachometer quit working.

Thanks.

I heard today from a friend and I did just verify it that YOM plates can be issued now to 70 - 80 model year vehicles (obviously yellow on blue only). For those Cal guys with 70 Bosses or Mach 1s this would be pretty cool (IMHO).

Bigfoot can get some for his Charlie's Angels Cobra 2 as well!

For those unfamiliar (discussed greatly in Forum 1) YOM plates are original old yellow on black (now yellow on blue as well) plates which were issued when your car was new. Not the new format yellow and black you see on every other Land Rover and many others.
