Concours Talk / Starter cable, reproduction or original
January 07, 2024, 11:46:01 AM
I purchased a large lot of 65 NOS parts and came across a set of battery and starter cables. A complete set of cables with the paper tags with C5ZB and extra starter cable with parts numbers, C5ZF-14431-A SX FOMOCO running the length of the cable. Would the cable with stamped part numbers be NOS?

The Lounge / Before and after photos over 15 years
September 23, 2023, 01:02:20 PM
I purchased my 69 GT350 in 2008 and used as a driver for a few years. I made the mistake of entering a car show and compared mine to restored cars and the process started on restoring the 69. Restoration was in phases over the years with undercarriage repairs, engine bay area, body work, paint, and interior. It took 15 years to get from the before photos to the after photos with the restoration shop letting me do a lot of the work myself with guidance. Still have a few small details but for the most part it is done.

Photos show my daily driver in 2008 and now the restored car and look forward to entering a few SAAC shows. My Shelby is one of the Hertz Rental Cars in Black Jade and a very early number.

Concours Talk / PCV hose
June 21, 2023, 05:13:21 PM
I have a PCV hose from a large collection of parts I purchased. The hose has C6AZ-6A664-N which I seen before on reproductions but this one has a red line with letters on the backside, 8D13CC-AU. Any idea what this hose fits?

Concours Talk / 1969 radio speaker
December 26, 2021, 05:10:35 PM
Are there any Companies that repair original speakers? Not sure if it is worth the effort to restore or purchase a repo.
Justing trying to keep using original parts for my Shelby restoration.

Should the center recessed area be painted Black?

Concours Talk / 1969 fender brace details
October 05, 2021, 05:44:12 AM
Car restoration is moving ahead and a question came up. The galvanized braces that mount to the radiator support and hold the small fiberglass tabs that are glued to the fender are ready to install. I noticed when installed you can see the mounting flange behind the headlight bucket on the rad. support and the galvanized finish stands out. Should this are be painted Black?

Concours Talk / 1969 Shelby GT350 shocks
June 18, 2021, 05:04:31 PM
I have my Shelby at Orlando Mustang for a complete restoration and we are getting to the final details. A question came up on the correct style shocks and I have some originals but they are tired. Orlando Mustang has a set of front and rear shock made by a Company in the 90"s called Blackjack Restorations. They have most of the correct contour to the shock and also has the Autolite stamping and C7ZF part numbers. They look really nice and new in appearance. I'm aware of the C7 part number is to early but the style is very close.
I can restore the originals and install for shows but could these be an option for a Concours Trailered 69 Shelby?

I'm sure this has been discussed but I need information on the following finishes,

air cleaner stud
throttle cable bracket mounted to back side of carburetor

1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / 69 GT350 kick down lever
December 19, 2020, 05:18:03 PM
Appreciate the responses on my past questions concerning my 69 GT 350

Another question, What finish is the carburetor kick down lever?  Mine is weathered with a Natural metal finish and looks like the top half was painted Black with a distinct paint line. Were these Natural or another finish?

I'm sure this has been brought up before. Two questions, are the four outer screens gloss Black and is the center scoop inner section painted Black or left Natural?

Concours Talk / 1969 GT 350 fuel sending unit
December 06, 2020, 11:13:53 AM
Dropped a new tank in this weekend after the exhaust and rear valance and getting closer to finishing the rear of the car. What fuel sending unit is correct as I have a few C8ZF 9275 A originals and not sure which if any are correct. Prefer an original part if possible.

Installing the rear valance and exhaust on my car and wondering if the license plate plastic inserts and screws were still installed since the plate area is cut out for the center exhaust port? See no need for them and not sure what is correct.
#16
Starting to detail exterior parts and the original letters are a little crooked, the letter E is turned upward and the letter Y is higher than the rest.
Question, do you leave alone as there were set up or try and straighten them? One issue I see is the mounting holes are already drilled and if I move them it may show the hole.
#17
Another detail question.

On the front disc brake pads, are they natural color/finish or the metal body painted similar to the rear brake drums with the Black paint applied so not able to see thru the rims.

1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / 1969 GT 350 rear drums
October 31, 2019, 06:15:29 PM
Question

I have a set of rear drums on my 69 that show two embossed lines on the outer edge and another set that has one embossed line. Any suggestions if any of these are correct? Or can some one add a photo of the correct drums?

Concours Talk / Shelby wood shift knob
September 14, 2019, 02:33:01 PM
I have what I believe is the correct wood shift knob with the Cobra emblem from my 69 Shelby that came with the car when I purchased 15 years ago. Have another one but noticed a difference between them, one measure 3 1/2" and the other is 3 3/4"
Both are virtually identical in contour other than the measurement.
I know they have been reproduced but these show a lot of wear with nice patina and have seen the repo's where the emblem is not recessed properly.
Were there multiple applications and manufacturers or just because the wood is hand made?

Concours Talk / Scissor jack identification
March 31, 2019, 02:45:18 PM
I have two scissor jacks with the 3/4 adjusting screw and date codes are 8C and 8L. Understand some 67 Shelby's were unique with the 3/4 screw but these are 68 date codes. I looked at Anghel Restorations site and these are the second generation style and measure the same.
Any help identifying would be appreciated. Going to Charlotte this week for the Auto Fair and will bring these to sell. Would like to list correctly and not sell the wrong piece.
