CSX 2000 Series / Gary Burke RIP
November 01, 2023, 08:46:20 PM
Sad to just learn of the passing of Cobra racer Gary Burke.  In his first year of SCCA racing in 1968, Gary successfully raced his weber-carbed/flared-fendered 289 Cobra, CSX 2239, to several race victories and the San Francisco Region's A-Sports Racing championship.  Gary and 2239 helped extend the Cobra racing legacy well after Shelby had moved on to Mustangs and GT40's.

January 26, 2023, 12:47:24 PM
Because of the high steering effort on early GT350s', did the aluminum splined hubs used on their steering wheels ever have any known problems or failures?

Sad to learn of the death of actor and author Tim Considine.  He wrote an epic history of Le Mans and was a Cobra enthusiast, as I recall.

Had to buy a battery for a daily driver.  As I had done in the past, I bought a Die Hard AGM thinking it would again be a rebranded Deka from PA.  Got it home and saw it had a little "made in china" sticker.  UGH!

Wanted to Buy / 289 Hipo Head

Looking for an early, non-emission "orphan" head.  Good, rebuildable core.  Deep thumb prints, no welding, epoxy or pinning.

The Lounge / Ford v Ferrari
December 11, 2019, 10:02:11 AM
Enjoyed the film but I had a hard time with the film's casting for Phil Remington.  The actor chosen looked too much like Dick Guldstrand, one of the Cobras' significant Corvette challengers on the west coast.  Every time a part for Phil was featured I thought of Dick.  Surprises me they casting didn't do a better job on that key character.
