Has anyone installed these unique parts for the 1st time on a Mustang or repaired/replaced them on a Shelby?

I've always loved that look as my 1st roommate had a 69 GT350.
I'm thinking about retrofitting it onto my 69/70 Boss just for the visual effect.
I know some here may find this unpleasant to consider and I hope you'll exercise discretion. After all, I'm only sacrificing a valance.

I've managed to acquire an OEM S9MS exh port, license plate bracket, & gas cap and wanna know what I'm getting myself into before springing for the repro collector.

I.e.

Anything special/unique about:

-Valance    (like is there a Shelby part or just modify a Mustang unit)
-Gas Tank

Thanks,

Phil.

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Paxton cable linkage-anyone?
September 28, 2020, 05:05:58 PM
I'm not sure which forum was best for this but:

...Has anyone used cable linkage (as on 69/70 Mustangs) attaching it to the mechanical levers on the 66/67 air box?

I'm curious as to if this works by adapting to existing/OEM brackets or if it was strictly a custom fabrication setup?

I know crazy, right? I'm putting a Paxton in my 70 so I don't need to spin the RPM to get into the power...

Thanks guys,
Phil

I have access to what appears to be an original 2/65 radiator for a later 65 with an A/T.

What does the soldered on 'Z' tag mean?
Looks like it may be over another letter...

It's a bit early for my 66 but thought ii might grab it if it's something unique/special.

Thx,

Phil

Wanted to Buy / C8FE block wanted
March 10, 2019, 01:29:53 PM
Guys,

I'm looking  for a later (March, Apriil, May) C8FE block for my 69 Boss 302 restoration.

I've got cash or I can trade +$ for an earlier C8FE (8L2?) block/caps that's +.040".

LMK what you've got.

Thanks,

Phil

Guys,

I have a couple Boss302s but have never owned a Shelby. I have been in/out of the club for 30 years and was always partial to the early cars.

But I ran across this early 69 Black Jade GT500 w/ AT at a 'reasonable' price and need to know what you might know about it. My 97 Registry leaves out the last 20+years of history.

The good: beautiful floors, body, excellent white interior, orig black/red carpetr, orig C6, 3.50 T-lock
The bad: no 428 engine, partial stripping begun in front of the original paint.

There:console/gauges, center exhaust, orig rims, nice teak woodgrain, build sheet, Marti, Shelby docs

Any reports of stolen, restored, re-body, etc...?
What would a full, correct 428 CJ engine run me?  (Ineed the unvarnished truth...)

Let's says the body is perfect and I'll need a complete 428 engine; car to pan & fan to flexplate.

What would be a good price for such a project.?

Parts For Sale / C9ZE-AE1 (radiator) - 8MA date for M/T
October 21, 2018, 01:18:45 PM
Guys,

I listed an OEM 24" radiator on Ebay. I cant find it in any of the books (68, 69, 70 service manuals or 75 MPC) so not sure what that means.
Maybe production line? I think it's correct for a 1969 BOSS 429 or a 428 CJ so a GT500 could be its rightful resting place.

It's listed for $1200 but anyone here can have it for $100 less...+ free shipping/insurance.

Tell me if this item is improperly described or it's a crazy price. It's ready to go unless you want to do some detail work on it.
The bottom tank was bent when I bought it so it was straightened when it was restored at the Radiator shop w/ 12 or 13 fins/inch core.
I did not alter anything on the bottom tank. I can supply 2 pics taken before I did any work on it.

I just listed it on the Boss site.

I tried to past the link below:

Years ago, I did this on my 66 GT fastback (drums/shoes & Fairlane wagon backing plates) & it worked out well. I did nothing with rear wheel cylinders, master cyl or K-H disc prop valve and track time at Hallett seemed AOK. Is the OEM 65/66 K-H prop valve adjustable?

Now, 20 yrs later, I want to do it on my 70 Boss but am I leaving anything out?
In '65, did Mr Shelby do anything other than what I did 1st time around?
Was the R-model solution any different than the street cars?

I'm about to spring for a set of 2 1/2" backing plates and need to know what else is needed to be accurate or what's recommended as an improvement. (Already have 2.5" drums/shoes)
I.e. Cobra Automotive puts bigger wheel cylinders in their kits...seems like that would change the bias rearward a bit. Maybe THAT is a good thing.

Thanks guys...!

1965 GT350/R-Model / Hood scoop rivets?
April 20, 2018, 03:04:50 PM
Were the hood scoops for the 65 R models riveted to the hood?

If so, what size/type of rivets & how many were used?

If not, maybe it's the Cobra hood scoops I was thinking of.
Can someone please confirm?

Thx,

Phil
