Wanted to Buy / GT-350 R model seat
April 08, 2022, 08:41:14 AM
I am in the process of returning the Bill Clawson 68 A/S Mustang to original as we built it in 67/68.  When I bought the car in 2019 it had a Kirkey aluminum roundy round seat in it which is totally period incorrect and have removed it.  I read somewhere that there is someone making a R Model reproduction seat but cannot located the source. Any help that way would be appreciated.  I have a original NOS Mark Donahue seat that I bought back in the day but 50 years later the seat has shrunk and its just a little to narrow for me now.  It appears Kirkey does have a low back aluminum seat but I thought I would try to find a original style one first.

GT/CS - California Special / Re: Production numbers
June 05, 2020, 08:35:08 AM
QuoteNot sure why you would consider adding these to a car where you state they were not added only considered if I understand your post.

I was just thinking about it.  Bill and I discussed many things to do to the car to make it more competitive.  I had always thought it would help plant the rear a little better and from a personal level I like the look. Not the tail lights however.  After reviewing the information it most likely would not have been legal  because nothing was ever put through Ford to legalize the parts for A/S or T/A which if they had would have surely been on the team cars. Thanks to all who had input on this post.  Good read.

GT/CS - California Special / Production numbers
April 21, 2020, 01:23:46 PM
Does anyone have the total number of units produced for the 68 model year for both the GT/CS or the High Country Special?  Reason for asking is that the original owner of my 68 race car talked about at one point in 1969 putting the deck lid and rear end caps on his car but was hesitant due to SCCA and homologation concerns.  Would be a neat add to this very historied car that I now have.

To all who have come forward to help me thank you very much.  I have had several offers of intakes and heads as well.  I am going to review all of them and then hopefully pick the best set up for Bills car.  I want to do this right to honor Bill and all he did for me.  Thanks again to such a good group.

Just acquired the 68 Bill Clawson A/S Mustang built from a body in white.  I helped build this car when I was 16 and thanks to some really great people I was able to get it back.  It is vintage race ready but at some point it has been upgraded with a current intake, heads etc etc.

My goal is to return to as close as possible to the way Bill and I built it back in 1968.  I need a single four barrel intake, period correct and if possible a two four period correct intake as he ran that for a few races.  As I have been mostly BOSS302 with my T/A A/S I'm a bit out of touch with the windsors.  Any and all help would be appreciated.

Bill owned 5R002 and another early 65 GT350
