On my 1969 Shelby gt500, where should I place my idle speed decal

On a 69 GT500 - I installed a new fuel tank and sending unit during restoration. As usual, the gauge does not register accurately the fuel in the tank.  I have bent the float arm in the past, but it still isn't accurate. Has anyone tried any of the fuel gauge interface modules?  Similar to the Tanks Metermatch ( https://www.tanksinc.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=product/product_id=748/mode=prod/prd748.htm ) And do you have any recommendations for me.

SAAC Forum Discussion Area / fuel issue
March 09, 2024, 10:14:07 AM
I like to run 93 non ethanol in all my cars.  My problem is not only finding it, but finding it close by.  I have found a distributor 60 miles from me, but at 8-12 miles per gallon, to drive there and home would use up a big portion of the fuel. I have thought of a 55 gallon drum, or lots of 5 gallon cans, putting in a fuel tank, etc.  Has anyone else encountered this and come up with a workable solution?  And FYI, I have 12 cars that I need this fuel for.

I am at the final stage of completing my 69 Shelby GT.  I have a considerable amount of new, in-the-bag hardware, and other inventory, from AMK, Branda, Deadnuts, etc. that were never used.  I can either post these items to the forums (SAAC and Concourse Mustang), if it would it be helpful, or I can return them.  I thought that I would let you tell me if this would benefit anyone, or a waste of time for me to prepare this list.  I am only trying to help.

Generally you would post them in the classifieds, just saying.  ;)

Sadly no. Even though everything was professionally restored, I am down to determining if the pump is functioning properly.  And I did go back and tried the suggestions, but to no avail.

i had thought of that, but since I hadn't yet put the list together, I thought it more appropriate to ask if it would be worth it.  I probably have between 50 and 100 extra items to write down, and cross reference part numbers. I can move it if you feel it would be better in classified.

SAAC Forum Discussion Area / power steering issue
December 13, 2023, 02:12:30 PM
I have a fully restored P/S pump AND a restored rack and pinion on my 69 GT500.  The pump is full and I have cycled it to remove air. What I don't have is a working power steering system.  A little help, please.

Concours Talk / 69 tilt-away steering
November 21, 2023, 09:10:51 AM
I have never had a car with a tilt-away column, so I don't know about the nuances of this unit. I had my column professionally restored. Now that I have finished the restoration of the car and driven it, I find that when the steering wheel is in the lock position, there seems to be a lot of side-to-side play of the steering wheel itself. Is this normal, or should it feel as solid as the traditional column?

I am running BF Goodrich 245 60R15.  Does the picture appear to have too much clearance above he tire to you?

In 69, did A.O. Smith drop the front front end?  Right now, my center of fender to floor height is 29 1/2".  Is this correct measurement for a Shelby?  It just "appears" to be higher than I would have expected AND it is much higher than my 69 R code Mach.  I also have a 35 years in business mustang restorer who insist that this is what wrong - his words, not mine - with the car.

Concours Talk / inspection stickers

1969 GT500, fastback, Dearborn, built mid June 69 - Are there specific locations to place the inspection stickers under the hood?

Thanks Bob for the reminder.  I did take it for a drive, for that purpose.  Do you know what the clearance height should be? Do you know the spring height for my springs I was looking in Branda's catalog, and on pages 49 & 50 (Shelby side) there is a segment, by Jeff Bruce, on lowering the A-Arms, and it does specify that it can be performed on the 69 model.  Have you (or anyone else) ever accomplished this mod?
