Does anyone have the background on lot S76.1? This is the ‘66 with Walt Hane’s name on the rear quarter and looks to be converted to R Model specs. Jere Creed’s name is on the door so I assume he was the driver. The announcers say this is a real Shelby that started life as a GT350H. It seems like there were one or two bids and it flat-lined at $110,000.

(The car is on episode 11 around 1:17)

States that it is a '66 Hertz car restored by Walt Hane for vintage racing.

Yes, very clean. If these had been used, I would expect some marks from the hooks. Maybe the reverse sides have some.

On the '66 carryover, I am not surprised by the lack of GT350 emblem on the rear tail lamp panel, but it appears to be a '65 gas cap. Am I seeing that correctly?

Yes looks like a 65 Mustang gas cap. Maybe someone took/stole the other one

So, theoretically, the same could be said for the gas cap as the lack of GT350 emblem. The SA associate simply failed to install the new parts.

I did read in the Registry that under warranty, the gas cap was replaced on 9/14/66. I wonder if it was the '65 cap or a correct '66 cap?

Interesting none the less.

Heavy heart, I still can't believe it.

While I have owned my car for over 20 years now, I only within the past couple of years started seriously working on it. Jim was one of the first persons I called to get me started.

All the guys being mentioned dealing with them and or to get to know them will be your absolute privilege and good experience---however any phosphating is straight forward venture that could be tackled rather successfully even if you have never worked on cars before. the key is ask , listen and follow instructions. Bob Perkings has video on tube and if you still need more help does answer the phone and U will find him pleasure to talk to. In short  u will have no problem. I do small jobs for myself and friends in kitchen when my wife is on night shift and for bigger parts had tank made and do it on backyard. Good luck ---john  .

As John posted... really very straight forward. One key is to have clean contaminate free parts (no paint, rust, oil, etc.).
