6S264: I swapped mine in about 2006. Agree with JamesFee, it was one of the best mods you can make. I used the T5 M-7003-Z with some better internals. Nowdays, I'd go with the new TKX trans if you're pushing much over 400 lbft torque at the flywheel. Aluminum flywheel is a plus but I recommend a scattershield, same as JamesFee again. Dual-friction clutch is a no-brainer.

I found I did have to "mill off" about 3/16"x3/16" off the right side of the B&M shifter housing to avoid cutting the tunnel but I suspect that was due to the McLeod scattershield. And yes, you have to shorten the drive shaft.

The great thing about going with the 5 speed is having a tranny that acts like a close-ratio T10 but having the extra gear on the freeway. Say AAAAaahhhhhh!

6S264: I'm running 225/60-15 BFGs with lowered Chris Alston suspension. BUT... the fender lips are rolled, AND... I still get fender rub during turn+dip scenarios. NOT ideal but I try to be careful.

Scott is right. Dexron II only. I've been running my T-5 (Z) trans behind 419 lb-ft Roush engine for 6-7 years with no problems. It's not the ideal trans but it works fine, even for a lot of "spirited" driving. It's also small enough I didn't have to enlarge the shifter hole or hack anything on my '66 GT350 (SFM6S264).

SAAC-44 / Re: SAAC 45 location?

2 great Texas locations... 1) Harris Hill Raceway (road course) with nearby hotel and conference center at Embassy Suites in San Marcos, and River City Raceway (drag strip) in Marion. Texas Cobra Club meets there every year. Circuit of the Americas (COTA) is about 30 minutes from this hotel if you want a best-in-U.S. road course for more money; 2) Motor Sport Ranch in Cresson (road course) with Granbury Conference Cntr (Tammy Dooley 254-897-9533) about 20 minutes from the track, and Granbury Hilton next door.

Consider a cooler time of year if you're coming to Texas.
