Original covers. But someone has taken the time to polish the sides smooth. Not sure if that does anything to the value. Nice covers though.

SAAC Forum Discussion Area / Help with oil cooler history
« on: November 07, 2023, 02:26:37 PM »
Hello I know Shelbys but not much about Boss 302s and Cobra Jets. I have some very early Boss parts. A 69 oil cooler adapter and a Nov. 10 1968 stamped oil cooler. I have looked but cannot find a 69 oil cooler adapter. They all seem to be 70s. Seems like a pretty early date on the oil cooler. Also has the Ford oval stamp the 70s that I have seen do not. Could they be part of the Trans Am race program? Pics included.  Thanks for any info.

When did the S2MS 3259 carbs become available? Were they not a production line carb? Also agree with a 3 digit date code for original carbs.

Would check pcv valve.   Run the engine in a dark garage with the hood up to check for plug wire arch. By your desc. the carb is okay. Could be vac. leak from carb gasket, or intake to head gaskets. Just some thoughts

Tip of the day, heat gun works great. Heated up then used a utility knife blade to slide down the length behind the plate. Thanks Bob

Sill plate from 6s1831, Unrestored also flat not embossed 1 line. I need to remove without bending. Would heat gun be the best? Also need 1 more original like this. Other side missing for some reason.  Thanks

Too bad I cant show in person. I also have had many early Shelbys. Paint is in same location on both springs on the outside on the last clamp and some on the springs. It is not spray paint. Have seen many paint daubs and stripes just looks factory to me. Maybe will show to Rodney Harold before restoration.  Will retain pics to show original condition. My car is untouched unrestored unregistered since 1978. First time springs have been off since new, Car is black and gold. Never painted orange. Thanks for the comments Just like to add the orange is underneath the dirt and crud on bare spring. Also I do value every opinion if I didnt I wouldnt ask. So thanks for the help. Just want to build the car as best and correct as possible.

I believe its factory. Only on the side of the spring and band. No other orange paint on the springs. Also the paint is under all the crud. Just looks like a brush stroke of orange paint. Just my opinion and will go back on the springs when restored.  Thanks

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / 66 Hertz leaf springs

Has anyone seen orange paint on their leaf springs. Just removed mine yesterday. Found the usual yellow and green stipes. Then on the pair is an orange stripe on the spring and rear clamp. Including a pic hard to see but gives an idea where the orange is. Springs have some rust, but can clearly see orange paint. I have seen orange paint on hipo flywheels and cranks. May indicate springs are for a K code car? Also have noticed on restored early Shelbys looks like the yellow and green paint has been sprayed on. Mine have always been a brushed stripe.

I do have an NOS C7FE cam. Restoring my Hertz was thinking of adding hp.  Will probably just sell the Lemans cam and get a stock hp289 cam. Thanks for the input.

Hello, Does anyone know if  the automatic trans will shift okay when using a C7FE lemans cam? Enough vac. for the modulator to shift gears. I have used this cam with a stick and like the added hp.   Thanks

Service replacement part. Built 1970 but never used. Like any other NOS part you buy today to replace worn, damaged or missing parts. Would be a correct replacement part. I think Fomoco was first then Autolite then Motorcraft as far as types of factory dual points. This is a pretty early replacement, cost 69 cents to ship UPS still has the label on the box.
